White with a Splash of Yellow

The newest member of my design team - Dee - has made a beautiful card for this week's theme.

Isn't this card beautiful.  Dee has this awesome flower die.  I'm gonna have to get me one.  :-)

The flowers are a Spellbinders die.  The ink is Tim Holtz Distress ink in Mustard Seed.

Thank you for stopping by the blog.  Tune in next week for Die Hard week.  A week full of die cut fun.

Have a great day and be inspired.

White with a Spash of Color - My Favorite Take on the Concept

I've been playing with the technique of white with a splash of color all week long.  I decided  I would take it a step further.

It isn't totally white, but there is a lot of white.

Here is what I did:

I just stamped an image in black with Archival Ink.  I took Tombow markers and colored one of the flowers to make it pop.  Then I just added a black background and adhered it to a card.  It was simple, but it looks really cool in my opinion.

Thank you for stopping by the blog.  Tune in next week for a new theme.

Have a great day and be inspired.

White with a Splash of Color - A Step Further

I have been working with theme - white with a splash of color.  I am using my Stamps of Life sets to explore this concept.

Here is white with a splash of color taken a step further.

I stamped Cookie on the white cardstock background and then on a color.  I popped up the gray and kraft puppies.  I also colored the bows to add an additional splash of color.

Thank you for stopping by the blog.  Tune in tomorrow where I take the white with a splash of color even further.

Have a great day and where ever you are - be there.

WOYWW 308 - Clean and Tidy

It is Wednesday which means it is the day I take a picture of my desk and share it on Julia's Stamping Ground.  It is the world's biggest desk hop every Wednesday.

I actually cleaned up my desk after being very productive this weekend.

And my baby kept me company while I was creating and cleaning up.

I am off to snoop around other desks.

Thank you for stopping by today.  Tune in tomorrow for white with a splash of color.

Have a great day and be inspired.

White with a Splash of Color

Last week I watched a video on ideas for making white cards with a splash of color.  The idea morphed as the week went on.

I pulled out my Stamps of Life die and stamp sets from the Die Hard Club and got to work.

The locks were cut out in white.  I used Kaleidescope ink to stamp the color on the lock.

I also did white with a splash of color using the berry set:

I am really liking this white with a splash of color.

Thank you for stopping by the blog today.  Tune in tomorrrow for WOYWW.

The Trouble With Watercolor

I stuggle with watercolor.  I love what I see others doing, but I have not mastered this form.  I haven't even minored it.

I've been watching videos and trying different techniques.  I did a butterfly that went into the garbage.  I've done some flowers that don't even look like flowers;  they look like orange blobs on green lines.

Here is a birthday card I made for my Mom and I am actually very happy with it.

I followed some instructions that Jennifer McGuire shared in this video:
Watercoloring with Distress Markers with Jennifer McGuire

Now I used Tombow markers because those are the markers I have the best selection of.  I also tried the ironing to transfer the embossing powder to typing paper and I had no success.  I used clear embossing powder from Stampin Up.  The stamp is by Close to My Heart.  The sentiment stamp is by Avery Elle.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today.  I hope you try watercoloring.  I think it's one of those techniques that takes practice - just like coloring.

Have a great day and be inspired.

Guys and Circles

So my husand's birthday was Tuesday.  Of course I had to make him a birthday card.  Once again I needed to make a guy card.  Ugh!  Then I ran across a video featuring a white card with a splash of color.  I had a revelation.

Here is the card that I made for my hubby's b-day.  And it has circles.

I used a Die Hard Club Stamp and Die Set from Stamps of Life.  The ink is from Stampin Up.  I am going to use this technique again and again.

You can find the video with this technique here:

Here is a thank you card I made using a circle:

Thanks for stopping by the blog.  I am excited because I have a crop on Saturday.  What a great weekend ahead.

It's a Guy Thing

I know the theme this week is circles, but I had to share my guy card.

As I've mentioned before, I worked like a dog this weekend.  I am a computer programmer and we installed changes this weekend.  We have two big weekends a year where we install mandated changes.  We had a couple issues.  Nothing major, but it took time to fix and test them.  Two of my coworkers were real troopers and we worked all weekend long to get our issues resolved.

I said all this so you would know why I wanted to make them cards saying thank you.  The only challenge with making them cards is that they are both guys.  I have such trouble making guy cards.  I wish they liked flowers.  LOL

So here is my guy card.  I made the same card for both of them.

The stamp is by Hero Arts.  I stamped it in Versamark Ink and embossed with black embossing powder.  The sentiment is by Paper Smooches.

I asked my husband if a typewriter was girlie.  He said not if you use one.  Seriously - who uses a typewriter anymore?  And my coworkers are probably too young to even remember a typewriter.  :-)

Thanks for stopping by the blog.  Tune in tomorrow for some more circles.

Have a great day and where ever you are - be there.

WOYWW 307 - Feeling Creative!

It is Wednesday which means it is time to share a picture of my desk on Julia's Stamping Ground.

I felt crafty on Sunday so I messed things up.

I found this cute piece at Michaels.  It holds stamps perfectly.  I think I need another one.  For some reason if I find something I like I always think I need 2!

I'm off to snoop around my peep's desks.

Have a great day and be inspired.

Goin Round in Circles

The theme on the blog this week is circles.  I worked all weekend!  I mean I worked like a dog.  So Sunday afternoon I went into my craft room cause I was feelin crafty.  The result of my craftiness was very circular.

I was at a crop and there was a Close to My Heart consultant there.  I had recently seen a video where Darlene Devries used a stamp set that had a stamp for the outline of a flower and then another stamp to color the inside of the flower.  I found this stamp set at the Close to My Heart consultant's table.  I walked away, but couldn't stop thinking about that stamp set.  You know I bought it.  I think this is going to be one of my favorite stamp sets.  I used Stampin Up ink and I am extremely happy with the results.  The sentiment is Paper Smooches.  The background paper with the floral print is Simple Stories.

Next time I think I will put two leaves on each flower.

Thanks for stopping by the blog.  Tune in tomorrow for WOYWW.

Talking in Circles

I've been working in circles this weekend.  I've created several cards using circle punches and circle dies.  And I have used multiple materials from multiple companies.  I'll try and mention that with the pictures.

Here is my favorite card of those that I've made this weekend.

The flowers are from an old Stampin Up set.  I decided that I wanted to do some monochrome cards and these stamps worked perfectly.  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches.

I just love the way this card turned out.  I will be making some more like this.  I think it would look good using colors, too.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today.  Tune in tomorrow for some more circles.

Have a great day and be inspired.
