Time to Be Merry Card Recipe

It is that time of year - time to be merry.  And with the merriment comes a lot of parties and shopping (I love shopping for gifts) and baking (yeah - not me - lol).  With all these activities, time seems to fly by and finding time to craft can be difficult.  So in order to preserve my sanity, I chose a pre-colored image.  Does it seem like cheating - yes it does.  However, in my defense, I used the image to make my hand made card and I'm not too stressed.  So don't be afraid to take short cuts during the holidays in order to preserve your sanity.  No one will be any the wiser and your holidays will be much more enjoyable.  I give you permission - LOL.  I added colored mats around the image and also used a shimmer gel pen to highlight the bows on the presents.

Christmas Delight Challenge at Creative Knockouts

It is Thursday and that means it is time for a new challenge at the Creative Knockouts Challenge Blog.  This week's theme challenge is Christmas Delight.  Our sponsor is Pattie's Creations and if you enter you have the chance to win 4 images from the shop.

I used image Candy Canes with Bow to create my card.

Christmas Delight Card Recipe

These candy canes are just so stinkin cute.  I printed them off, colored them with Tombow markers and then cut them out with my Brother Scan n Cut.  The background is card stock with a stenciled image from Diamond Press and I used Tim Holtz Oxide Spray to spray the stencil.  Merry Christmas is a stamp from Diamond Press that I stamped in Versamark Ink and then heat embossed with Ranger Gold Embossing Powder.  These 3 simple elements are what make up my card for this challenge.

Embossing Delight Challenge at Creative Knockouts

It is Thursday and that means it is time for a new challenge at the Creative Knockouts Challenge Blog.  This week's theme challenge is Fall.  Our sponsor is AllDressedUpDigiStamps and if you enter you have the chance to win 3 images from the shop.

I used image Dogs in Shades to create my card.

Embossing Delight Card Recipe

I thought these dogs were adorable!  I left them black and white and added some pink using Tim Holtz Watercolor Pencils.  I fussy cut the 3 images.  I tried using my Scan n Cut but it just couldn't pick up the images correctly.  I found the sentiment and paws in a My Favorite Things set from days gone by.  I had some wood grain paper and a wood grain embossing folder so you know what happened there.  And I had some water color paper that had that beautiful blue so I embossed it with paw prints.  I tried to make it look like the dogs were sitting on a wood floor.  I took a silver gel pen and colored their toe nails and gems.  I went to the drawer in my room that has my enamel dot collection and that is where I found those adorable glasses that are on 2 of the dogs.  They fit perfectly!  Unfortunately I didn't have a tiny pair for that cute little pooch, but I think she can hold her own.  I plopped it all on pink card stock and added it to a card base.

Fall Challenge at the Creative Knockouts Challenge Blog

It is Thursday and that means it is time for a new challenge at the Creative Knockouts Challenge Blog.  This week's theme challenge is Fall.  Our sponsor is SheepskiDesigns and if you enter you have the chance to win 3 images from the shop.

I used image Sunflowers to create my card.

Fall Card Recipe

I don't know about you, but I love fall.  I like falling leaves, roasting marshmallows, cool mornings, pumpkins, pumpkin spice, Halloween and anything else associated with the fall.  I used a beautiful sunflower design from our sponsor and some new Tim Holtz Watercolor Pencils to color this image.  Those beautiful colors were a result of those pencils.  I see a lot of use for them in the future.  I only added a little water to the blue around the edges of the flowers because I wasn't using watercolor paper.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things.

Use Your 2 Fav Embellies Challenge at Creative Knockouts Challenge

It is Thursday and that means it is time for a new challenge at the Creative Knockouts Challenge Blog.  This week's theme challenge is Use Your 2 Fav Embellies.  Our sponsor is Star Stampz and if you enter you have the chance to win 4 images from the shop.

I used image School Days to create my card.

Use Your Fav 2 Embellies Card Recipe

When I saw this little girl it made me think of a little girl dressed for school in her red and blue.  And it also made me think of fall which is when school starts in my area.  So I colored her in her school outfit and surrounded her with fall leaves.  I used Zig Clean Clear Brush Markers to color her.  I was not happy with my skin or the red and blue outfit with the warm colors on the background so I had a do over.  What you see is the second image and I am way happier with it.  I used my favorite embellishments of enamel dots, Mica Spray and crystals.

Christmas in July Challenge at Creative Knockouts

It is Thursday and that means it is time for a new challenge at the Creative Knockouts Challenge Blog.  This week's theme challenge is Christmas in July.  Our sponsor is Pattie's Creations and if you enter you have the chance to win 4 images from the shop.

I used image Cardinal on Branch to create my card.

Christmas in July Card Recipe

There is something special about a Cardinal in Kentucky.  Maybe because it is the mascot for the University of Louisville.  Maybe it is because we are blessed to have an abundance of these beautiful creatures in our area.  Regardless of the reason, I cannot pass up the opportunity to use one of these gorgeous red (my favorite color) birds on a card.  I used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to color this image.  The sentiment is from an old stamp set by Hero Arts.  It is a very simple card, but it highlights one of my favorite feathered friends.
