Not Really Mixing Patterns

Well it looks like I posted twice in one day.  I sometimes mess up my scheduling like that.  Since I did that I decided to share a card I made for a friend at work.

Steve sits in my cube area and we've known each other for years.  He is a great guy.  I made everyone in my area Christmas cards last year.  At the end of the holidays Steve brought my card back to me.  I said - I made it for you to keep.  He said - I don't keep cards, I'm just going to throw it away.  I can't remember if I took it back or not.  Now I was not offended by this at all.  Steve is very honest which I appreciate.  So when his birthday rolled around I decided to keep his card clean and simple.  I wanted to make him a nice card, but I didn't want to spend hours on something he was going to throw away.

This is what I came up with.  I am quite pleased with how it turned out.

I used washi tape and a sentiment.  I layered a=the piece of white cardstock with the washi tape and sentiment on a white card base.  It is clean and simple, but classy.  I am going to use this technique over and over again.  Maybe I can use up some of my washi tape hoard - er I mean collection.

And guess what Steve said when I told him I made him a throw away card.  He said - I wouldn't throw it away.  Seriously?

Thank you for stopping by the blog.  Have a great day and tune in next week for another theme.
