Today is the OWH Memorial Day Weekend Blog Hop.
I loosely followed OWH sketch 225 for my card.
Here is my first version:
and then I took it a little further:
I didn't notice at the time my heart was upside down. :-) What do ya do?
Please hop on over to The OWH Red White and Blue Memorial Day Blog Hop and enjoy all the eye candy. And then while you're inspired, go make some cards for OWH.
Thanks for visiting my blog today. Have a great day and be inspired.

Romans 3:23 - 24 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
Wow, you really rocked that sketch! I love the simplicity of the first one, but those puffy hearts are too cool. As for the heart, it's merely spinning from love. :) That's a great stamp!
ReplyDeleteVery cute cards!!!
ReplyDeleteBoth cards look great.
ReplyDeleteOh my, your cards are just gorgeous. Love your paper choices.
ReplyDeleteLove the second card with the stars!!
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty cards and I love that beautiful Authentique paper!
ReplyDeleteWonderful takes on the sketch.
ReplyDeleteLove the stars with the banners...and I love the picture of your craft area at the top of your blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you for participating on the blog hop. I love the thinking of you card. Clean and simple with great layering.
ReplyDeleteGreat cards, love the designs used.
ReplyDeleteI love visiting your blog and seeing your scrap space and dog. Great cards. Upside down heart? My heart flips for you...adds to the personal creative touch. TFS
ReplyDeleteI don't think the heart not being right-side-up is critical...I like the way the sentiment was done.....nice layering with the stars....
ReplyDeleteLove the star and didn't even notice that the heart was upside down...too cool!
ReplyDeleteNice job on both of these lovely cards. I really like the star one and I think the upside down heart is so neat regardless. It has a more artistic design this way.
ReplyDeleteLove the second card. Such a fun lighthearted card.
ReplyDeleteLove both cards.
ReplyDeleteBoth are great cards...if you hadn't mentioned it, I would never have noticed the upside down heart. Too funny!
ReplyDeletehugs, Penny
I like both cards, and hearts that are separated by deployment probably do feel upside down.
ReplyDeleteVery nice cards and I agree with what many of the others said about your upside down heart!!! Maybe you have a punch close to the same size as the image so you could stamp another and layer it on top of the star ?
ReplyDeleteReally like the offset stars and banners! Would leave the heart upside down, adds interest!
ReplyDeleteThe sentiment is great, no matter what the orientation. Loved the placement on the puffy hearts.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely fabulous cards and I love your interpretation of the same sketch twice! Great inspiration.
ReplyDeleteLove your cards!
ReplyDeleteGreat cards- I like them both and I didn't even notice the heart was upside down :)
ReplyDeleteHee hee...that upside down heart just gives your card personality plus!
ReplyDeleteSweet! Love how you layered the stars and flags on the second card!!
ReplyDeleteLove the cards even if the heart is upside down! :D
ReplyDeleteTwo great cards! Thanks for your support of OWH.
ReplyDeleteLove your cards, April, and your blog header is wonderful too! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job on both cards! I really like the layers on the 2nd one, and the patriotic colors are fabulous! That's one cute doggie you have there too :)
ReplyDeleteI love your cockeyed heart! Adds to the wonky effect of your stars!
ReplyDeleteThese are great. I love all the stars and the layouts.
ReplyDeleteBoth wonderful interpretations of the sketch. Love the multiple stacked stars.
ReplyDeletePretty cards! The papers are pretty.
ReplyDeleteWow love the stacked stars.
ReplyDeleteI'm digging the second card, the stacked stars with the exploding banners just makes that card so sure catching!
ReplyDeleteRaeanna Smith
Great cards! I really like the second one with the wonky heart!
ReplyDeleteWay cute cards, the second now is my fav. even with an upside heart!
ReplyDeleteOh, I absolutely love that second card! What dies did you use for the stars?
ReplyDeleteMy daughter made a card with a similar stamp (the Miss You All the Time stamp from Hero Arts' OWH set) and did the same thing - the clock was upside down! We just stamped another one and fussy-cut it, then glued it over the original stamp. It ended up adding a bit of dimension that we liked better anyway!
Thank you. The puffy star die I used is by Lawn Fawn. And I was able to pull the star off and put it on the right way.

Love your beautiful cardds! I especially love the layered star card. I've never thought of layering embellishments offset like that. Definately going to try that out! I would love for you to check out my blog. I'm offering blog candy for followers. http://alllthingsbeautiful.blogspot.com to Amy A
ReplyDeleteThe picture of your desk on your header looks like mine! About 8" to actually craft in, lol! Great cards, thanks for supporting OWH.
ReplyDeleteI probably wouldn't have noticed the heart was upside down if you hadn't mentioned it! great cards
ReplyDeleteOMG....when I opened your blog I almost fell off my chair...your craft space looks suspiciously like mine, esp when I am in the middle of projects! Your pup is very cute!!
ReplyDeleteI didnt even notice the heart till you mentioned it....but sure, restamp and layer on if it is bothering you. Maybe distress edge it and it will look like it was done on purpose :)
I like the stars best too.
Thanks for making and sharing with us today for a fun hop!
Great use of contrast and color. You really made the cards pop.
ReplyDeleteI really like these cards, the second one is so much fun, love the hearts and banners. I didn't even notice the heart until I read it was upside down
ReplyDeleteApril amazing job on the cards, love all the colors!
ReplyDeleteI like this sketch turned on its side and the one with the layered banners is great CAS design. A great choice for showcasing a nice paper print as a background, as you've done here. Thanks for joining in the hop this weekend and supporting OWH!
ReplyDeleteAn upside down postage stamp means "I love you" (least how I learned it back in the days of mail and not computers), so your stamp being upside down fits perfectly. Great cards. From Laura Pervier
ReplyDeleteFabulous patriotic cards, I love all of the papers!
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you how many times I've put something on upside down LOL. I love the cards, both are great and I especially like the "stitching" you took the time to do on the second card. Terrific!
ReplyDeleteSupper cards, love the papers you used.
ReplyDeleteLove both the cards - but..... my very favorite is your supervisor in the chair. So Cute!
ReplyDeleteGreat cards, April! You chose such a nice sketch for this hop!
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeletegreat cards--I like the simplicity of the first card--it grabs my eye right away

ReplyDeleteJust create another layer. The card is too cute to waste!
ReplyDeletelovely lovely cards!!! They really pop!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing cards! love the stars on the banner in the first card and the swirling stars are wonderful and I'd like to try that one. Thank you for sharing with us.

ReplyDeleteTwo great creations, great share.
ReplyDeleteGreat cards! I especially like the layered stars and banners on the second card!
ReplyDeleteI like both versions and the heart is fine!
ReplyDeleteLove the layered stars and banners in the second card! Great job!
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are great, but I especially love the second one with all the layering. The dry embossed banner gives great texture!
ReplyDeleteI really like the star card. Thanks for supporting OWH!
ReplyDeleteGreat cards. Loved the star card, too. I think the upside down heart gives it distinction, lol. TFS
ReplyDeleteboth are great--love the background paper on the first. Puffy hearts look great with the banner-cut "tails". I really like that one!
ReplyDeleteI like the Stamp used on the star on the second card
ReplyDeleteLove them! Thanks for the great ideas.
ReplyDeleteLovely patriotic cards! I really like the one with the flags, which is one of my favorite embellishment these days. And the upside down heart is kind of charming, actually..!
ReplyDeleteGreat cards. I didn't read all the replies to see if anyone suggested it, but to "fix" your upside down heart, can you stamp it again, cut it out with a circle punch and paste it over top of the original?
