Border Time Challenge At Creative Knockouts Challenge Blog

It is Thursday and that means it is time for a new challenge at the Creative Knockouts Challenge Blog.  This week's challenge is Border Time.  Our wonderful sponsor is LeAnnsWorld and if you enter you have the chance to win 2 images from their shop.

I used the stamp set Painter Girl to create my card.

Border Time Card Recipe

I started with this adorable little artist from LeAnns World and proceeded to color her with Copic Markers.  I found the perfect sentiment from Dare to Be Artsy.  To make my borders, I used my Brother Scan n Cut 2.  I scanned the painter girl image after I colored her and cut her out with my Scan N Cut.  I then backed up and expanded the border around the image and put color card stock on the mat and cut out the first border.  Then I did the same thing for the other 2 borders - I just expanded the border distance around the image and cut out color card stock.  I just love that machine.  I used a My Favorite Things die to cut out the white background.  You just can't get those perfect stitch lines with anything but a metal die.  And the enamel dots are from Taylored Expressions because no card is complete without enamel dots.

What Thread for What Project

I found a youtube video which was actually a webinar by Bernina on everything about thread.  I am also going to include a link to another video about thread that was done by Stitchhouse.  I found both of them quite interesting.  There will also be a link to the webinar downloadables as well.

Documents are saved here - not sure for how long:

Here is the video from Stitchhouse about thread as well.

I have always thought of needle and thread as magic, but these two demystified them for me.  I hope they help you, too.

Embossing Delight at Creative Knockouts Challenge

It is Thursday and that means it is time for a new challenge at the Creative Knockouts Challenge Blog.  This week's challenge is A Charmed Life - add a charm.  Our wonderful sponsor is Fred She Said and if you enter you have the chance to win a $10 gift certificate from their shop.

I used the stamp set Monarch Butterfly Collection to create my card.

Embossing Delight Card Recipe

This lovely butterfly collection from Fred She Said Designs is pre colored which saves me time.  I printed the butterfly collection from Word which produced a full sheet of beautiful butterflies.  I put my Brother Scan n Cut to work and that wonderful machine cut out each butterfly for me.  In the meantime, I used an old background stamp from Hero Arts to create my watercolor canvas.  I stamped the background in Versamark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  It has been a while since I've used heat embossing, but it is a classic technique that produces great results.  I'd watched a video earlier on how to easily watercolor so I put the new information into action.  I used my Tombow markers to color a Ziploc baggie.  I spritzed it with water and laid my watercolor card stock down on the Ziploc bag.  And there you see the result.  Stunning.  I will be using that trick again.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things and the enamel dots just seemed to be the topping that was needed to finish off the card.

Get out those embossing folders or that Versamark Ink and embossing powder to create a card to enter in the challenge at Creative Knockouts for a chance to win.

Celebrate Cards 4 Kids at the Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge Blog

It's the 1st Saturday of the month and that means it is time for another challenge at the Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge Blog.  The theme for this challenge is Celebrate Cards 4 Kids or Anything Goes 4 Kids.  This challenge no longer has sponsors so you will be participating for pride not prize.

Send a Smile 4 Kids charity is dedicated to collecting and distributing handmade cards to children who are inpatient at Children's Hospitals.  Please send us your handmade kids' cards for holidays, birthdays, and everyday cheer.  Help us put a smile on our kids' faces.

Celebrate 4 Kids Card Recipe

For this card I used a paper pack that fit the celebrate theme perfectly.  I cut out the 3 x 4 card and rounded the edges.  I matted it with green sparkle card stock.  I used another pattern paper from the pack for the background and matted that in a solid color as well.  To make the images on the 3 x 4 card, I outlined the balloons and banner with black marker.  I added some clear enamel dots (thank you Diane) and rounded the outside corners of the card base.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today.  Consider entering our challenge and donating your hand made cards to our great charity.

Have a great day and enjoy the journey and some chocolate.

It is Thursday and that means it is time for a new challenge at the Creative Knockouts Challenge Blog.  This week's challenge is A Charmed Life - add a charm.  Our wonderful sponsor is Jan's Digis Stamps and if you enter you have the chance to win a $10 gift certificate from their shop.

I used the stamp set Autumn Friends to create my card.

A Fall Card Recipe

The season is finally here - fall.  Fall is my second favorite season right after winter.  I love the colors and the clothes and the pumpkin spice and the jack-o-lanterns.  It gets dark sooner and there is a cool crisp breeze blowing through the trees and it's the perfect time to make a fall card.  I used the Autumn Friends set from Jan's Digis Stamps for my card.  The sentiment has the cute falling leaves which add color to my project.  I colored the basket of leaves with my Zig Clean Color Clear Brush Markers and cut out the image with my Brother Scan n Cut.  The little acorn and enamel dogs are from Doodlebug.

Enjoy some pumpkin spice coffee with a piece of pumpkin spice and enter your card in the challenge at Creative Knockouts for a chance to win.
