Die Cuts and Punches Challenge at Creative Knockouts

It is Thursday and that means it is time for a new challenge at the Creative Knockouts Challenge Blog.  This week's challenge is to use Die Cuts and Punches.  Our sponsor is Sheepski Designs and if you enter you have the chance to win 3 images from the shop.

I used digi stamp Fuchsias to create my card.

Die Cuts and Punches Card Recipe

Sheepski Designs has the most beautiful fuchsias image and I started with that image and some Copic Markers for my card.  The wonky rectangle die from My Favorite Things was used to cut out my fuchsias.  Stamplorations makes some wonderful word dies and 'make a wish' is one of them.  I cut out the sentiment in pink card stock and pink fun foam to get some dimension.  Last I added an acrylic dot that is actually a light pink.  Don't think I didn't think about using splatter, but I refrained.  LOL

Get Your Craft Space Conducive to Creativity

After the mad dash to finish all my holiday projects, I was left with what looked like an explosion of fabric and paper.  The aftermath of getting so many things done was a space that didn't inspire me to do anything.

I had a work area of about 6" x 6" and not one of my table tops was clear making it difficult to start anything new.  And I had many half done projects cluttering up my table surfaces.  I decided to stop, straighten and clear.  What I ended up with was space to work and a new inspired attitude.

Check out my video and you may be inspired to tidy up so you can feel creative in your craft space.

A Quick and Easy 3 Yard Quilt Tutorial Gone Wrong

Ever think you're doing everything right?  You've read the directions.  Twice.  You've studied the pictures.  Twice.  Even three times.  You film the steps because you are going to share your expertise with the world.  You are going to help someone who is struggling with the directions.  Maybe that person has never made a quilt before.  You are going to give them insight and with your awesome teaching skills, you are going to enlighten them.  Encourage them.  Motivate them.  And then it just doesn't come out the way you expected.

Check out my video and see what went wrong and what worked right.

Even though my quilt didn't turn out as I expected, I am happy with it and I think my granddaughter will love it.  Stay tuned to see how I finish it.

Thank you for watching.  Please like, subscribe and share my video - it helps me on my quest to be a YouTube star.  ;-)

Something to Say Challenge at Creative Knockouts Challenge

It is Thursday and that means it is time for a new challenge at the Creative Knockouts Challenge Blog.  This week's challenge is Something to Say.  Our sponsor is Jan's Digi Stamps and if you enter you have the chance to win a $10 gift certificate from the shop.  They have a great selection of digi images.

I used digi stamp Wild Flower Blossoms to create my card.

Something to Say Card Recipe

I just love me some flowers and this image is so sweet and simple.  I'm in the splatter period of my card making journey and this card was begging for some splatter.  I smooshed some Catherine Pooler ink on my craft mat and spritzed it with water.  Using a small brush, I 'painted' the flowers and the vase. Here is what I used:

I dipped my make up/craft brush above in the ink and splattered the card.  There is just something about splatter on a white background that makes me happy.  The sentiment is also from Jan's Digi Stamps. I know this card is simple, but I sometimes like just a sweet and simple card where the main image gets all of the attention.

Valentine / Love Challenge at Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge

It's the 1st Saturday of the month and that means it is time for another challenge at the Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge Blog.  The theme for this challenge is Valentine / Love Cards 4 Kids or Anything Goes 4 Kids.  This challenge no longer has sponsors so you will be participating for pride not prize.

Send a Smile 4 Kids charity is dedicated to collecting and distributing handmade cards to children who are inpatient at Children's Hospitals.  Please send us your handmade kids' cards for holidays, birthdays, and everyday cheer.  Help us put a smile on our kids' faces.

Valentine / Love 4 Kids Card Recipe

When I look at this picture it almost looks like a snowstorm on my card.  I just love splatter and this week I have been on a splatter kick.  I was gifted Kuretake Pearl Watercolors last Christmas and I hadn't used them yet.  I pulled out my Valentines stamps and paper and the idea came to life.  I started with black card stock.  The 3 hearts stamp is from Inkadinkadoo.  The Happy Valentine's Stamp is from Hero Arts set that I have had for years.  I put those on my MISTI and stamped them in Versamark Ink.  I used silver embossing powder from Ranger and heat embossed the image and sentiment.  I added a little bit of water to the pink pearl watercolor and used a brush to create to the splatter effect.  I added Nuvo drops in red and pink.  The card front was then matted in some Valentine's paper and placed on a card base.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today.  Consider entering our challenge and donating your hand made cards to our great charity.

Here are some affiliate links to the products I used.  It doesn't cost you a thing, but I get a small commission which helps me purchase my crafting supplies.
