Blog Stalking - WOYWW - Julia's Stamping Ground

On Friday's I try to share some of the blogs that I stalk regularly.  One of them is The Stamping Ground.  The lovely Julia runs this blog and every Wednesday a group of very nosey people post a picture of their work desks and share those links on Julia's blog.

The artwork and craftiness of the people in those links is inspiring.  If you want to get lost in blogland - check it out.  Julia has a great sense of humor, too.  :-)

I hope everyone has a crafty weekend.  Be inspired.

WOYWW 233 - Back in the Game

I have been MIA for that last several weeks.  I have no good excuse other than life is getting in the way - that would be Project Life!  LOL  It is Wednesday once again - they just fly by - don't they?  I can't believe Thanksgiving is next week.  If you want to peruse the work desks of the world go to Julia's Stamping Ground - you will be glad you did.

Here is my work desk:

Project Life has taken over my desk.  I'm having fun with it though.  :-)

I'm off to check out the other desks.  Have a great day and be inspired.

You're My Cuppa Card for Operation Write Home and Video Tutorial

I've been so focused on my Project Life that I've fallen behind on my card making for Operation Write Home.  I don't know why I can't multitask.  LOL

I made the original card at least a month ago and cut out pieces to make more of the same card, but between work, vacation and PL, I hadn't gotten around to making the others.

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the coffee cup.  I also used the Cameo with the pen to create my sentiment.  I came up with this one; although I feel quite sure it is not original.  I always run my puns by my husband to make sure they make sense to someone other than me.  :-)  I also used a Hero Arts stamp, Tim Holtz Distress Ink and my sewing machine.

Here are a few pictures of the different variations of the card.  And below is a video showing you how I made it.

I really enjoy sewing on my cards and my Project Life albums.  I think I'm going to start sewing my big 12 x 12 pages, too.  :-)

I made these cards for Operation Write Home.  This organization sends hand made cards to the men and women serving our country who are away from home.  This gives them a way to communicate with those loved ones who are waiting for them to come home.  If you have any extra cards you want to donate or if you just want to jot a note to let one of our heroes know you appreciate their sacrifice, go to the website for information on how to get that to our Heroes.

Have a great day and be inspired.

Project Life My Way - My Week 4 - The Process

I am really enjoying this Project Life Project this time around.  I think it is all in the way you approach it.  The first time I started Project Life I thought of it as a task; something I had to do.  And I think that is why I failed.  This time I think of it as challenge; something I choose to do.  It's all in the attitude of the approach.  I am modeling Project Life to my lifestyle.  And I think that is what Becky Higgin's goal was for this product.

I have been working on my PL for 4 weeks now.  I did a video for week 1 and week 2.  For some reason, I have a process video for week 4 including parts 1 and 2; but, I don't have the video for week 3.  I will do a video for week 3 which is done, just not documented.

I've found what works best for me - so far - is to work Sunday to Monday.  Then on Sunday evening I pull my pictures together and print them.  The sooner I record my activities for the week in my journaling - the more details I will remember.  I've seen videos where people print their pictures using Persnickity Prints or another service and take notes about what they are going to journal.  Again - use the process that works best for you.

I then take a few minutes on the evenings that I have time and work through the week to finish my 2 page spread.  I have found that a two page spread for a week works best for me.  I've also seen others who prefer a one page spread per week.

Here is my process video - part 1.  I've sped up the boring parts, but you get the idea at what goes into creating a weekly spread:

If you're going to do Project Life - go in with the 'I want to do it' attitude.  If you feel like it is something you 'must' do, you won't have the right perspective.  When you are going through the week, think about your PL album when you're taking pictures.  I try to remember to take pictures when I have dinner with my husband or my friends so I can include those memories in that week's pages.

I will conclude week 4 in the next few days.  It is mostly the finished spread.  And then I will go over what I did for week 3.

Have a great day and be inspired.

Stalker Friday - Amy's Paper Crafts Blog

Well time is flying by.  I cannot believe that is it already November and Christmas will be here before we know it.  I've been focusing on my Project Life lately and haven't been posting like I had challenged myself to do.

BUT, I am really enjoying keeping up with my Project Life my way because it makes me think about what I am doing and making note of it to put in the weekly diary.  For instance, I had dinner with my BFF and her son on Monday.  Normally I would just have a great time and then forget about it.  Instead, I took a picture of the three of us in front of the restaurant and that will go in my Project Life weekly journal.  I received a box of candy from a co-worker who works out of town and a lovely card thanking me for my help.  I took pictures of the candy and the card and will include those and the actual card in my Project Life spread for the week.  I like how this 'project' is helping me to keep memories of things that are important and might otherwise be forgotten.

BUT I digress.  The whole reason for this Friday post is to share a blog or website that I visit and that inspires me.  This week is Amy's Paper Crafts Blog.  She is one talented lady.  I am always pinning her cards so that I can CASE them.  Check her out and be inspired, too.

That's it for today.  I am off to go on a scrapbooking retreat.  Yay!  I am working on the 50th Wedding Anniversary Album for my Mom and Dad.  And I have to do one for me, too!

Have a great day and be inspired.

Project Life My Way - Week Ending October 19

I am very excited about my Project Life my way journey.  I am looking at my week differently than I did before.  I remember to take pictures (most of the time) when I am doing things with my family and friends because I know I will want them in that week's spread. Even though my hand writing is not my favorite I am going to journal.  And that might even improve my handwriting.

And the shopping!  I have so many products to buy.  LOL  And I have actually found I have quite a few items in my stash that I've gotten in different kits while attending events that I might not have used before, but are perfect for PL.

Here is a video of my spread from a couple weeks ago.  I had finished the layout, but just wanted to show what I'd done.  I am going to post every week's spread so that I am accountable for keeping up.  I hope to show more of the process in future videos.  I've been doing my homework.  ;-)

In the video I couldn't remember where the little post it note like speech bubbles were from - it's a company called Little B and they make the cutest embellishments.

Happy scrapping.  Have a great day and be inspired.

My Project Life My Way

I started doing Project Life at the beginning of the year and I was faithful for about 3 weeks.  Maybe 4.  I didn't have a true appreciation of the process.

I've been doing my version of Project Life for 3 weeks now and I truly appreciate keeping current with the weekly happenings in my life.  I like that I can make it as ornate or as simple as I want.  I will still scrapbook my trips and special occassions with traditional methods, but for a weekly keeping up with my life - I will be doing my version of Project Life.  A couple things that make it my version:  1)  I don't use only the PL cards for journaling because I want my pages to be unique.  Watching videos has given me ideas on different products that are available to allow me to do that  2)  I have been using We R Memory Makers page protectors;  however, I will be incorporating Becky Higgins because there are some really cool page protectors in her line.  I wish she would put out a 6X12 page protector with 3 4X6 slots.

I did a little video explaining why I want to keep up with my Project Life:

I think my pages will get better as I go along.  I've been watching videos to get ideas on how other crafters create their pages.

I also made the video for accountability.  I am going to video each week.  I hope setting that goal will encourage me to do my weekly pages.  We'll see.........

I have to share this funny.  The slogan for Project Life is scrapbooking made easy.  My daughter says it is scrapbooking made lazy.  I thought that was pretty funny.  However, when you're really busy with everyday life, a job and a family - you need lazy.  :-)

Have a great day and be inspired.
