It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

Well, Thanksgiving is over and that means today is Black Friday which really started Thursday afternoon.  I don't go shopping on Thanksgiving Day because I think people working retail should have that day off.  But I won't get on my soapbox.

So in honor of the beginning of the Christmas Season I used several products to make my first flat Christmas card of the season.

If you look closely you will see that the ornament sparkles with glitter.

Here are the products I used to create this card.

The Stampin Up stamp set is Ornamental Pine.

I hope you've enjoyed a week of Thanksgiving.  Tune in next week for Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.

Have a great day and make it, live it, share it.

A Week Of Giving Thanks

Since it is Thanksgiving week, we are celebrating giving thanks.

I am thankful that someone came up with the idea of box cards.  They are one of my favorites.  It's like a gift in an envelope.

I will however share my Thanksgiving Box Card.  These cut files can be purchased at SVGCUTS.com.

I just love box cards.  And this one is perfect for Thanksgiving.

Thank you for stopping by the blog.  Have a great day and make it, live it and share it.

WOYWW 286 - Thanksgiving

Today is Wednesday which means it's time to take a picture of my desk and share it on Julia's Blog for the world's largest weekly desk hop.

Instead of cleaning my house on Sunday, since I'm hosting Thanksgiving;  I chose to clean my craft room which no one will see.  Well, no one, except you guys.  :-)

Here is my clean desk.

I hope everyone who celebrates Thanksgiving has a great day on Thursday.  We can all start our diets on Friday after we go shopping.  LOL

Thanks for stopping by the blog.  Stay tuned tomorrow for a Thanksgiving Box Card compliments of SVGCuts.com.

Have a great day and make it, live it, share it.

A Week of Thanks on Thanksgiving Week

It seemed fitting for the theme on my blog this week to be 'Thanks' since it is Thanksgiving week.

There are so many things that I am thankful for that I have trouble listing them in my prayers at night.  And I won't bore you with the list.

I colored these flowers using two different sets of Red alcohol markers.  Poppies are my favorite flower so I am particularly happy with these 2 cards:

Stay tuned tomorrow for some more giving of thanks.

Thanks for stopping by the blog.  Have a great day and make it, live it and share it.

Diane's Girl Cave

We're wrapping up craft room week with a tour of Diane's Craft Room.  Diane's craft room is in her basement and started out as a closet, but Sherry and I convinced her to expand it into the room outside of the closet.

Check it out:

Here you're standing in front of the closet where her craftroom used to be.

And now we're just moving to the right..

And swinging around to the right again.

And this is her awesome antique printer's cabinet.  I LOVE it!

Here she has organized some of her treasures.

Diane repurposed many pieces of furniture including these bookcases.  And she put small embellishments in spice rack containers.

Punches are in a shoe rack hanging on a door.

This cubby used to house a wine rack - now it houses more important stuff!

And this is the table where all the magic happens.

She uses her IKEA carts to store punches and paper pads.

Well that ends our craft room tours for the week.  I hope you were inspired by some of the awesome rooms you've seen this week.

Tune in next week for A Week of Thanksgiving.

Thanks for stopping by the blog.  Have a great day and make it, live it and share it.

Craftroom Mania Continues with Anastasia's Craft Room

Today my craft room obsession continues with a tour of Anastasia's craft room.

Ikea Shelf and box drawers
I love Ikea and I love the expedit shelves. They are perfect for organizing crafts. I really wanted enclosed storage but I couldn't spend the money on the individual bins and baskets for each cube, at $13-15 each. My solution was moving boxes from Lowe's. They are actually deeper than the shelf, but with baseboards my shelf didn't sit flush against the wall so they fit perfectly. The bottom row does come out about 1/2 inch or so. The boxes are 16x12x12, so there is more storage than the Ikea bins.  I folded the top flaps in and taped them down and added map themed wrapping paper to the front and along the edge about 3 inches, as that part is slightly visible from the side while the boxes are on the shelf. The labels are metal and already adhesived from Staples. I spray painted them while they were still stuck to the carrier sheet with bronze spray paint, then just peeled them off and adhered them. I added extra packing tape to the bottom for extra strength as well as along the edge of the bottom as the paper would try to rip as it pulled across the shelf. Of course you could cover the boxes in fabric, paper, or even paint them. Some of my drawers do have heavy things in them, I try to put those across the bottom for ease when I pull them out. Just be cautious it is cardboard, I did ruin a box when I dropped my big bite cropadile on one. My drawers don't have labels yet, the labeled one is from my brother's office.

I also use these drawers for my clear and cling stamp storage. For these drawers I cut the side flaps off and put them in the bottom of the box for extra reinforcement. I use expanding file folders for categories, these hold the carrier sheets with stamps. Small or large ones all fit in one folder which makes it easy when I'm working on a project to find all mystamps of that theme. Some categories that I have a large quantity of, like Christmas, I keep in a plastic tote on another shelf. Travel and Postage just have their own box drawer. I like that you can try out themes before you commit to the folder (use post its). For example, I had nature in one but then decided I had enough birds and butterflies to make their own folders.

Embossing folders
A basket from Hobby Lobby, it doesn't get any easier than that. As long as it makes it back to the basket I can flip through those fairly quickly to find what I need.

Plastic drawers- scrap paper storage
I put all usable scraps in here, cardstock or patterned paper. I tried a scrap basket, sort of a catch all and that just didn't work for me, as I would have to dig to the bottom and the paper would get bent. The drawers work for me because each drawer is a separate color, some are combined if there's not a lot of that color, like orange and yellow. I use the deeper drawers for miscellaneous scraps at the bottom as well as pre cut cardstock that I have already cut for cards.
The plastic drawers are from Walmart and I just snapped several units together until I made the number of drawers I needed. This actually takes up a lot of valuable wall space but it is worth it to me because I finally use my scraps. BeforeI went to this system and invested in the extra drawers, I actually tried out individual large Ziploc bags for each color andcategory. Once I decided that's what I wanted then I invested in it.

How awesome is all this organization.  I need to take some lessons from Anastasia.

Stay tuned tomorrow for a tour of Diane's craft room.

WOYWW 285 - Craft Room Tour Week

It is once again Wednesday and that means it is time to take a picture of my desk and share it on the world's largest desk hop on Julia's Blog.

Here is a picture from My Craft Room Tour.  Click the link if you want to see the whole messy room.

It's back to the old grind this week after being on vacation last week.  As always I've determined I need more table space in my craft room.  I'm working on that now.

Stay tuned tomorrow for Anastasia's craft room tour.

Thanks for stopping by the blog.  Have a great day and make it, live it and share it.

Craft Room Fun Continues.....A Work in Progress

This week we are exploring my obsession with craft room tours.  And today I am going to share my craft room.  Please keep in mind it's a little messy.  I have lots of excuses so I won't bore you with them.  Just suffice it to say it's not at it's neatest.  And I am in the process of rearranging in order to create more table top space.

Here is my tour:

This is what you see to the right when you walk in the door.

This is what you see to the left when you enter my room:

And this is the cutest thing in my room!  Gracie

This is the view standing in the closet doorway and looking toward the doorway into the room:

It's Craft Room Fun Week!

I have an obsession besides scrapbooking and card making.  It's craft room tours.  I LOVE to watch craft room tours on youtube.  I LOVE to see pictures of peoples craft rooms on their blogs.  I can't wait until the craft room issue of the crafting magazine comes out.

So in honor of my love of craft rooms I've convinced at least 2 members of my design team to share their crafting space.  I am going to share mine, too.  I'm hoping Anastasia will share hers too.  Keep your fingers crossed.  :-)

I told them I would go first, but I just back from vacation and Sherry sent me her pictures.  So I'm going to share Sherry's craft room first.  Let's go craft room hopping.

Here is Sherry's craft room:

I LOVE the flowers on the wall - how could you not be in a good mood in this room?

And every craft room needs a comfy chair and coordinated accessories.

And the filing system keeps her paper organized.  And how cute is that ribbon holder?

Her inks are organized and ready to go:

Her favorite item in her craft room is her craft desk which is from IKEA - of course.

I hope you enjoyed the tour of Sherry' craft room as much as I enjoyed sharing it.  Stay tuned tomorrow for a tour of my craft room.  Remember there is no shame in a messy craft room.  You'll need that info for my craft room tour.  lol

Thank you for stopping by the blog.  Have a great day and make it, live it and share it.

Anything Goes - Coordinating Copics

Diane happened upon a technique someone used to keep track of their Copic colors and how they determined the best combination of colors for their images.

Diane started with that technique, but put her own spin on it.  I like it.  I think I need to do the same thing.

She cut out little jars with a punch and used a hole punch to punch the hole in the top.  Then she colored the jar with a Copic marker and put the color name at the top of the jar.  Pick a new Copic color and repeat until you've used all your colors.

Using eyelits - she reinforced the hole in each jar.

Then she used a ball chain key chain to group together families of colors.

Now she can hold the jars next to one aother to determine what colors can be blended together while coloring her images:

What a great idea!  Then as you add colors to your collection - you can add jars:

I hope you can use this awesome idea to organize the colors in your alcohol marker collection.

Well - that wraps up a week of Anything Goes.  Tune in next week for a new theme.

Thanks for stopping by the blog.  Have a great day and make it, live it and share it.
