Butterfly Sympathy

Unfortunately, I am in need of sympathy cards once again.  I was playing with my new Lawn Fawn butterfly die set and decided that it would be appropriate for a sympathy card.  This card is very much like the get well card I did earlier this week with a significant difference.

I used the butterfly die in the same way.  The colors are different in the background but I used my favorite technique for sponging Tim Holtz Oxide ink and spritzing with water.  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches and the splatter is from Tattered Angels.  The one major difference is the splatter is blue and it isn't smudged.  Somehow Oliver's paws missed this card front.  There is some purple on the background and I matted the card with a dark purple.

Be the Change you Want to See

I worked on several t-shirts last weekend and this is one of my favorites.  I like shirts with a message especially when it is pretty.

This Gildan t-shirt is one of my favorite colors.  I used a t-shirt this color to make one of my Christmas shirts and since I can only wear that for a limited time in the year, I decided to make another t-shirt using this color with a saying that I can wear year round.  I've told you how excited I am about the new electric vinyl that Siser has come out with.  I used the blue and red on this shirt and I love the way it turned out.  Siser is my favorite heat transfer vinyl and it pressed beautifully as always.  As is my normal mode of operation - I got the image from the Silhouette Design Store and I added the offset in Silhouette Studio V4.  And there you have it.

Glitter is Always an Option

I've been making shirts again and this one is very pink.  I found this saying in the Silhouette Design Store and thought it was cute.

As is my practice - I pulled the image from the Design Store and put an offset around it.  I like the way the layering of vinyl looks on a t-shirt.  It's a lot like paper;  the more you layer it the more polished it looks.  I used flat pink vinyl, Siser Electric Pink/Magenta and Siser Glitter.  Don't look too closely at the swoosh at the end of glitter.  I laid the glitter vinyl on top of the transfer sheet of the foil vinyl.  I've been known to do this.  I even looked twice, but not at the right hand side of the design.  I recovered, but not very eloquently.  I'm sure no one would have noticed if I hadn't pointed it out, but I couldn't help confessing.

Furever Friends Card Recipe

I haven't colored in weeks.  It may have been months, but when I saw this adorable image - it just screamed color me with Copics.  And so I obliged.  I printed the image using my Anna Griffin Kodak printer.  I was pleased with the ink as it didn't bleed when the markers touched it.  There are so many cute little details on this image;  the kitty, the butterfly and the flower in Kiki's hair.  I added some dots and lines with a white gel pen.  This week's challenge is to use die cuts and punches and that's just what I did.  I used dies from Elizabeth Crafts and My Favorite Things.  The sentiment is also from My Favorite Things and I matted it with one of the backgrounds papers I used.  All background paper is from Bo Bunny.

WOYWW 457 - Still Clean

It's Wednesday and that means it's time to take a picture of my desk and share it on Julia's Blog - the Stamping Ground for WOYWW.  I did some crafting this weekend, but once again cleaned up my desk so as not to set Oliver up for failure. 

Notice my flowers are not on my craft desk, but are up on top of my Ikea shelves.  I heard that instead of using the powder stuff that comes with the flowers that you should put pennies in the water and the flowers will stay fresh longer.  I will let you know what happens if I can keep Oliver from eating them.  Oliver eating them is the reason they are on top of the Ikea shelf.  I predict he will knock them off the shelf, break my vase and spill water on the floor.  Again - I will let you know.

Now it is clean.

It is dog grooming night and that means I won't get in until late so I will be desk hopping later.

Life is Tough, But So Are You

Lawn Fawn recently released some fun new products.  One of those is some paper that is in the colors of the rainbow.  I LOVE this paper.  Saturday was craft Saturday at church so I took my new 6 x 6 paper pad in Really Rainbow and set to make some cards using sketches.

Now I've said it before and I will say it over and over again - I LOVE paper.  I think that is what drew me to scrapbooking and then morphed into card making.  It's been a while since I've been this excited about a new paper release.  I will be buying lots of this paper.  I used a sketch to create this card.  I find that matting the pattern paper with solid card stock just makes the patterns pop.  You is from My Favorite Things and was die cut multiple times and stacked to give dimension.  Matte enamel dots were added for interest.

Butterfly Get Well

I needed to make some cards this weekend for several situations.  I needed Get Well, Sympathy, Miss You and birthday.  That is quite a range.  I just purchased a butterfly set from Lawn Fawn and was excited to use it.

I started with white card stock cut at 4 x 5.25.  I ran the card stock through my die cutting machine with the butterfly dies.  Using Distress Oxide ink in Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch and Picked Raspberry, I sponged some watercolor card stock.  I spritzed it with water and set it aside to dry.  I stamped the white card stock with Get Well from Paper Smooches.  Then I splattered the front with a purple spitz from Tattered Angels.  And then Oliver walked on my card.  Ugh.  Not what I wanted, but what are you gonna do?  I cut down the water color card stock and placed the card front on top.  Then I put a pink mat behind that.  And that went on a card base.

Electric Prince T-shirt

So I shared the Prince Birthday card I made for Lisa several weeks back.  I asked her if she wanted a matching t-shirt and she said yes.  Now my crafty mojo was on vacation so it took a while for me to cut out the image.  It took longer for me to weed this guy.  It was way easier to do the foil version on the card than it was to weed the vinyl.  But my mojo came back and I weeded the image and pressed the shirt.

Prince Electric T-shirt Recipe

I've discovered Siser Electric HTV and I am in love.  The first Siser Electric HTV I found at Michaels and it was red.  I used it to make one of my favorite shirts that says, 'In a world where you can be anything be kind'.  Then when shopping for vinyl at 651vinyl.com, I found more colors.  When I discovered there was purple electric vinyl, I knew I had to use it for Lisa's Prince shirt.  The image is from the Etsy store and I know I will use it for multiple gifts for Lisa.  I cut out the vinyl with my Silhouette Cameo and pressed it with my heat press.

Commencing Happy Dance

I am the official card giver and birthday celebrator on my team at work.  I don't know why.  Maybe it is because I make cards, but it is my job.  Don't get me wrong.  I put myself in charge of it.  Who doesn't want to feel special on their birthday.  We have a team member who lives in California and he always gets the shaft, but not this year.  This year I remembered in time to send his card and some Valentine candy.  I think it was a day late, but better late than never.

Commencing Happy Dance Card Recipe

This is another clean and simple card as I find those are best for the masculine cards.  I bought the new Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks and wanted to give them a try.  I decided to use regular card stock instead of water color card stock.  Sentiment is from a recently purchased birthday sentiments set from My Favorite Things stamped in Versamark ink and heat embossed with Nuvo black embossing powder.  The Oxide inks are Bundled Sage, Peacock Feathers and Shaded Lilac.  I put some color down on a teflon mat and added water;  dipped a really wet brush into the ink on the mat and put it on the paper.  It is that simple.  The mat is a piece of decorated water color card stock that I'd saved from a prior project.  Stamped inside is Happy Birthday.

I am loving this little Penny Black Heart die.  It's so clean and simple and can be used for multiple kinds of cards.

XoXo's Card Recipe

This is such an easy card - I hate to share how easy it is.  I cut the white card stock at 4 x 5 1/4.  The red card stock is the mat behind the white.  I stamped the xoxo sentiment from My Favorite Things.  I cut out the white using the Penny Black die.  I placed the white card stock down without the die and splattered red paint.  I added the white die cut hearts back and put the whole thing on a card base.  Super simple, but I love the look.
