It's Fourth of July Week on the Blog

This week's theme is Fourth of July.  It can be red, white and blue;  picnics;  or, what ever makes you think of the Fourth of July.

The first thing I think of is Red, White and Blue.

Here is a card from The Silhouette Design Store:

I used a white card base and cut the mat with my Silhouette.  I then added the stripes.  I used Stampin Up white embossing powder to add the sentiment by Hero Arts.  I really like the way it turned out.

Thank you for stopping by the blog.  Tune in tomorrow for another Fourth of July project.

Have a great day and be inspired.

Not Really Mixing Patterns

Well it looks like I posted twice in one day.  I sometimes mess up my scheduling like that.  Since I did that I decided to share a card I made for a friend at work.

Steve sits in my cube area and we've known each other for years.  He is a great guy.  I made everyone in my area Christmas cards last year.  At the end of the holidays Steve brought my card back to me.  I said - I made it for you to keep.  He said - I don't keep cards, I'm just going to throw it away.  I can't remember if I took it back or not.  Now I was not offended by this at all.  Steve is very honest which I appreciate.  So when his birthday rolled around I decided to keep his card clean and simple.  I wanted to make him a nice card, but I didn't want to spend hours on something he was going to throw away.

This is what I came up with.  I am quite pleased with how it turned out.

I used washi tape and a sentiment.  I layered a=the piece of white cardstock with the washi tape and sentiment on a white card base.  It is clean and simple, but classy.  I am going to use this technique over and over again.  Maybe I can use up some of my washi tape hoard - er I mean collection.

And guess what Steve said when I told him I made him a throw away card.  He said - I wouldn't throw it away.  Seriously?

Thank you for stopping by the blog.  Have a great day and tune in next week for another theme.

Mixing Patterns

This week the theme is mixing patterns.  I love paper.  Taking a collection and mixing the patterns is part of the fun.  It is all about the paper.  LOL

Here is today's project:

I enjoy taking two different patterns and combining them.  In this case I took a paper pad and made several cards.  I used the Hero Arts Ombre ink to stamp the sentiment.

Tune in tomorrow for WOYWW.

Mix It UP

This week's theme is all about mixing patterns.  I love paper!  So mixing patterns is something I enjoy.  I know that some find it not so pleasing to the eye.  Let's see what you think.

Here I am mixing a patterned paper with  flower stamps:

Here I take it a step further with two patterned papers and flower stamps.

Let me know what you think about all those patterns.  Too much.  Or just right.

Thanks for stopping by the blog.  Have a great day and tune in tomorrow for more pattern mixing.

Not Really Wrapped Up

I thought yesterday was a wrap up of this week's theme;  but,  Dee surprised me with two cute cards that just had to be shared.  :-)

Here are her cards:

"Glitter Trail"
A couple of Spellbinders dies, Stamps from Jillibean, "words" are heat embossed with silver glitter and lightly shaded. Banner die from WeRMemory Keepers, topped off with Wink of Stella and some tiny crystals and voila a card.

" Words"
This is a little 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 mini card (that's what it call them). The word "hello" is a die from Little Yellow Bicycle, cut twice and offset for shadow effect, outlined with a little Wink of Stella. Little butterflies are from Spellbinders called Flutter Tree.

And being the enabler that she is - she found this new toy earlier this week.  So you know I had to run out and buy one.  I will be using mine this weekend.  :-)

I hope you've been inspired by our projects for this week.  Tune in next week for a new theme.

Have a great Father's Day and be inspired.

Today we are wrapping up the 'use your words' theme.  My design team stepped up this week.  :-)

WOYWW 315 - A Bit Messy

It is Wednesday which means it's time to share pictures of my desk on Julia's Blog - the Stamping Ground.

I've been working on multiple projects this week.  A birthday card, Father's Day Cards, Watercoloring, a banner for a birthday and cards using my words.  Shew!  So you know that means my desk is a mess!

Here she is in all her glory:

And here is the coloring I've done for the The Daily Marker Blog's 30 day coloring challenge:

Use Your Words Continued....

This week's theme is 'Use Your Words'.  I am interpreting that to mean - focus on the sentiment.  We'll see how my design team interprets it if they give me any projects to share.  :-)

I am still using the same 6 x 6 Doodlebug paper pad and coordinating solid colors.

I used Versafine ink in Sepia to stamp the sentiment.

I've also been participating in a 30 day coloring challenge at The Daily Marker Blog.  Here another image I watercolored with Spectrum Aqua markers:

I knew I had to have this stamp when I saw it at Michaels.  It is by Stampendous.  I am so pleased with the way the coloring turned out.

Use Your Words

This week's blog theme focuses on the sentiments that we use on our cards.  I have lots of sentiment stamps that I haven't used so I am taking this opportunity to use a whole 6 x 6 paper pad using this tutorial - Using a 6 x 6 paper pad.

I took a Doodlebug 6 x 6 paper and some coordinating solid papers along with some various sentiments to create the following card:

The stamp is by Fiskars.  I used a sketch by OWH.

I've been participating in the 30 day color challenge being held at The Daily Marker Blog.

Here is a watercolor I did this weekend:

Congratulations and Graduations

Anastasia is back!  She has shared one of her graduation projects.  And it is filled with a graduate's favorite gift.

Such a nice project.  I can see making several of these.  And when Christmas comes around - you could use this with different paper and a different sentiment for Christmas gifts.

Congratulations Graduates

This week's blog theme is all about graduation.  I made boxes for collecting cards at a graduation party my friend was having for her two daughters.  Several people at work saw the boxes when I brought them in for her and decided they wanted boxes for their graduates too.

So I set to work creating these boxes.  I did most of the leg work while I was sitting in my chair watching television.  School colors, school mascots, creating cut files for my Silhouette, etc.

Here is the result of my labor.

I color coordinated the box to match the school logo.

To create a matching card, I resized the school logo to a size that would fit on a card.  And I added a graduation cap.

In order to hide the rough edges of the opening I created a paper border in my Silhouette Studio software.

And a video:

The Tassle was Worth the Hassle

This week's blog theme is Graduation.  It's that time of year and I spent some of my Saturday working on graduation projects myself.

I'm going to show you what Diane was up to this weekend and save my projects for tomorrow.

She made some cute graduation cards using her Silhouette Cameo.  The Design Number from The Silhouette Design Store is 56665.

And the finished product.

Love the way these turned out.  Think about using the colors of the school the graduate attended when creating your graduation cards.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today.  Tune in tomorrow for some more graduation projects.

Have a great day and be inspired.
