Anything Goes 4 Kids

It is the third Saturday of the month and that means it is time for a new challenge at the Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge blog.  The theme for this challenge is Anything Goes 4 Kids.  Our wonderful sponsors are All Dressed Up Stamps and Die-versions.  Enter this fun challenge for a chance to win a 2 digital images from All Dressed Up Stamps or a $15 gift card from Die-versions.

Send a Smile 4 Kids charity is dedicated to collecting and distributing handmade cards to children who are inpatient at Children's Hospitals.  Please send us your handmade kids' cards for holidays, birthdays, and everyday cheer.  Help us put a smile on our kids' faces.

Here is the card I made for the Design Team for this challenge:

Sometimes I am just not in the mood to color or maybe I run out of time.  Either way there are instances when you can use the black and white image and still create something pretty.  In this case, I had some alcohol ink backgrounds that were just waiting to be made into cards.  Alcohol ink backgrounds are pretty intense by themself so you don't want to distract from the background, but you want your focal point to stand out.  I decided these penguins were perfect to leave uncolored.  The background has a chance to shine, but the penguin image looks great too in the black and white.  Maybe the fact that penguins are black and white by nature helps.

Thanks for stopping by.  Consider entering the challenge at Send a Smile 4 Kids.  More importantly, consider sending some cards for our kids who are in the hospital.  Have a great day and enjoy the journey and some chocolate.

Creative Knockouts - Border Time

It is Thursday and that means it is time for another challenge at the Creative Knockouts Challenge Blog.  This week's challenge is Border Time - feature a border on your card, whether it be all the way around or just horizontal.

Here is my design team card for this week's challenge.

Happy Birthday Card Recipe

This card came together quickly although the background was ready to go.  I stole the background from Jennifer McGuire.  Maybe stole is a harsh word.  I watched a Jennifer McGuire video and made this alcohol ink background using the techniques Jennifer McGuire shared.  The sentiment is from Taylored Expressions and the stamp is called Bubble Sentiments.  Love, love, love this stamp set.  Happy Birthday was stamped on Bristol card stock using Versamark ink and heat set with Nuvo Black Embossing powder.  Tombow markers were used to color the letters and adding water gave them a watercolor look.  I put some of the Tombow color down on a non stick mat and added water to get some splatter.  The coordinating background was created using alcohol ink.  The border was created with a stiched scallop die from My Favorite Things.  Enamel dots topped off the card.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today.  Tune in next time for another paper crafting project or maybe a t-shirt.  Have a great day and enjoy the journey and some chocolate.

A Shirt For Every Day

I love the holidays.  I started listening to Christmas music on November 1st as soon as it came on Holly channel 70 Sirius radio.  I could probably listen to Christmas music all year long.  I've already made some Christmas cards which is highly unusual as I normally wait until the last minute.  And for some reason I have been obsessing over t-shirts the past few weeks.

I've designed several that I am going to share with you all.  It's like card designing, but I cut it out of vinyl and heat press it instead of glueing paper.

Candy Cane Company Shirt Recipe

So I've decided I want a Christmas t-shirt for every day between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  I won't make a shirt for every day, but I have been designing these things like crazy.  This one was inspired by something I saw while looking at Christmas shirt images on Google.  I love the way it turned out.  I designed it in Silhouette Studio using different fonts and some images I have purchased in the design store.  I then cut it out using flat and glitter heat transfer vinyl on my Silhouette Cameo.  The heat press has been my friend this past week.

I've been working on more than just Christmas shirts.  I have also designed a couple Thanksgiving type shirts, sarcastic shirts and inspirational shirts.  I will be sharing lots of shirts over the next few days.  Some of which I didn't design, but purchased from the Silhouette Design store and modified to add a little something.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today.  Have a great day and enjoy the journey and some chocolate.

Happy Veteran's Day

I want to take a moment to thank all of the men and women who are serving and who have served in the United States military.  Today we celebrate Veteran's Day in the U.S..  The company I work for had a campaign to make thank you cards for the military active and retired, first responders and military family members.  Dana arranged a conference room and invited peeps who had made cards previously for other charitable organizations.  We gathered together and made about 70 cards.  The goal at work was 100 and we made it.  :-)

I designed some simple cards for us to make.  After we made then we passed them out and asked everyone to write a thank you note inside.

Veteran's Day Thank You Card Recipes

I used some patterned paper, a star punch and a couple thank you sentiment stamps.  We also used some Oxide inks to create another bunch of cards, but I didn't get a picture of that one.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today.  Thank a service person for keeping us safe and all the sacrifices they make for people they don't even know.  Have a great day and enjoy the journey and some chocolate.

WOYWW 440 - Oh Where Oh Where Did My Mojo Go?

Today is Wednesday and that means it is time to take a picture of my work desk and share it with my fellow crafters on Julia's Stamping Ground.

If you know me, you know that I lose my inspiration every now and again.  Right now I am in a design it in Silhouette Studio, but not make it mood.  I have decided I want a shirt for everyday before Christmas that has a Christmas theme.  I have been designing them, but that is all I have been doing.  Paper crafting is usually my thing, but right now I am all about the t-shirts and Heat Transfer Vinyl.

Here are a couple of my designs:

Here is my desk this week.  Not much has changed from last week.

Tonight is sushi night and I plan on doing some desk hopping.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great day and enjoy the journey and some chocolate.

Happy Holidays 4 Kids

It is the first Saturday of the month and that means it is time for a new challenge at the Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge blog.  The theme for this challenge is Happy Holidays 4 Kids.  Our wonderful sponsors are Little Blue Button Stamps and Stampendous.  Enter this fun challenge for a chance to win a $10 gift card from Little Blue Button Stamps or a $20 gift card from Stampendous.

I started with the Christmas Fireplace stamps from Little Blue Button Stamps.  Using my Zig markers - I colored the image and added water to the color as needed.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things.  Card front was matted on striped red pattern paper and placed on a card base.  Now looking back I need to add some brown at the base of the fireplace so it doesn't look like it is floating in the air.  LOL  I do really like the way the brick turned out.

Creative Knockouts Embossing Delight - Ouch!

It is Thursday and that means it's time for a new challenge at the Creative Knockouts Challenge Blog.  This week's challenge is Embossing Delight.  Aliciabel is the sponsor for this week's challenge and if you enter you have the chance to win a $10 euro voucher.

Ouch Card Recipe

I started with the cactus image from Aliciabel and printed it on water color paper.  Using Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers, I colored the image.  Yay Brother Scan n Cut 2!  This awesome machine cut out my image and even put a little border around it.  An embossing folder with clouds was used to create the background along with some watercolor paper from Lawn Fawn.  My Favorite Things designed the 'ground' the pot is sitting on.  My Favorite Things also created the stitched banner die and another MFT Stamp Set provided the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today.  Tune in next time for another paper crafting project.  Have a great day and enjoy the journey and some chocolate.

WOYWW 439 - Back to Blogger

Today is Wednesday and that means it is time to take a picture of my desk and share it with the rest of the world on Julia's blog The Stamping Ground.  You might notice I have moved my blog.  I started blogging on blogger and then moved to a wordpress blog because I wanted my own domain name.  I've since decided that I really didn't need my own domain name (the bill to renew came due).

So I am back on blogger.

Here is my desk this week:

This is my messy desk this week.  I am going to dog grooming this week so I will be late getting to everyone's desks.

Have a great day and enjoy the journey and some chocolate.
