Animal Kingdom - The Tree of Life on 'Captured' on film

I really need to note the manufacturer of the paper I use for my pages so that I can share that information.  That will be one of my to dos in the future.  I used the Silhouette Cameo to create the film strips, the camera and the title 'Captured'.  The images are from the carvings throughout the roots and trunk of the Tree of Life.
I found this Rhino paper in a scrapbook store in the little town of Glasgow Kentucky.  It was perfect for this layout.
I hope this layout inspires one of your scrapbook layouts.

Have a great day and be inspired.

Blog Stalking Friday - Stamp with Tami

Another stamper I frequently stalk is Tami.  She comes up with some unique card ideas that I love to CASE.  You can find her at stampwithtami.com.  If you are a card maker check out her blog.  And she does videos which I like because I am a picture person.

Have a great Friday and be inspired.

Seriously? Paper Smooches Slang Gang

For these cards I used the Hero Arts Stamp Your Story Brush Strokes stamp set for the paint strokes.  In the card above I used Hero Arts Inks (Pale Tomato, Orange Soda, Butter Bar and Soft Leaf).  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches Slang Gang set - which is a great set).  I stamped that in Hero Arts Soft Granite.
This card is the same layout, but I used Stampin Up inks instead of Hero Arts Shadow inks.  The Stampin Up inks are Real Red, Tangerine Tango, Daffodil Delight and Lucky Limeade.  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches Simply Said stamp set and is stamped with Momento Tuxedo Black Ink.  The arrow is in the Hero Arts Stamp My Story Brush Strokes stamp set.

I prefer the brighter color of the Stampin Up ink; whereas, my daughter prefers the more muted Hero Arts shadow inks.  It's all personal preference.  :-)

These cards will be heading off to Operation Write Home where they will be sent to military personnel serving away from their families.  They, in turn, can write home to their loved ones using these hand made cards.  If you are a card maker and have extras or just want to have a good reason to start making cards, check out the website for more information.

Have a great day and be inspired.

WOYWW 221 - Another Day in Paradise

It is once again Wednesday which means it is time to share your work space with the world.  Well as least 150 people in the world.  Hop on over to Julia's Blog to check out some awesome desks and projects.

Here is my desk.  I've been concentrating on scrapbooking lately, so it is pretty clean.

Just a little friendly animal banter.

Here is the scrapbook portion of my desk.  Last week I'd gone shopping and there was a bag on the desk.  This week I'm sharing what was in the bags.

Here are the 6X6 paper packs that I purchased last week.  Curiosity satisfied for those who were wondering.

I hope you have a great day and be inspired.

Animal Kingdom Safari Continued

I am still using the same animal print paper pack.  I used another sketch from one of the books I purchased on Amazon.com.
I believe these leopard and giraffe stickers are from Me and My Big Idea and they are very old - like 10 years old.
The hippo sticker is from Creative Memories - again very old.  I'm trying to use up my stash.  Don't get me wrong - I haven't stopped buying, but I am trying to use what I already have as well.  Goodness knows I am far enough behind that I can use all the stash I have and then some.  LOL

I hope you can use this layout for one of your scrapbook pages.

Have a great day and be inspired.

Animal Kingdom - the Safari

This is my layout for one of my favorite Disney rides - the African Safari.  My daughter was lucky enough to be on the side of the jeep where all the animals were located so she took the majority of the pictures.  And she did a good job.  I've used the same animal print paper - I've got to get the name of the paper line - but I stamped some giraffes on the giraffe print with black ink.  I used some stickers that I'd collected as well.

I used a sketch to come up with the initial idea, but then ran with it.

I hope you can use this layout to inspire a scrapbook page layout of your own.

Have a great day and be inspired.

Friday Blog Stalking - DarleneDesign

I cannot have a series of posts on Friday about my favorite blogs without including DarleneDesign.  Darlene does a card video every Wednesday (well almost every Wednesday).  I look forward to Wednesdays because I know she is going to make a card that I will want CASE.  I've purchased many a stamp because she used it to make her Wednesday card.

Again - I'm not going to include pictures, but if you've read any of my posts, you've probably seen a card that I made using Darlene's instructional video.  Check out her blog, you cannot help but be amazed.

Have a great day and be inspired.

CAS and a Video

I am very proud of this card.  I didn't copy off anyone - My idea started with this card Handmade by Paula.  However, this is probably the closest thing I've come to coming up with an idea on my own.  I used Stampin up inks Gumball Green and Raspberry Ripple.  The stamp is Stampin Up Awash with Flowers.  The sentiment is by Avery Elle.  I believe I found the sparkly buttons at Michaels on clearance and the twine came from Archivers.  The pink flower button was one from my stash and I don't know where I purchased it.

I did a video demonstrating the technique:

The belated birthday card will be going to my BFF.  The You are the very best card will be going to OWH where in turn it will be sent to our military members serving away from home.  Our military can use these cards to stay in touch with their loved ones while they are away.  If you have any extra cards that you've made or want to get involved with the non profit organization - go check out their website.

Have a great day and be inspired.

WOYWW 220 -- That Would Be Molly

It is once again Wednesday - they come so quickly.  That means that there's a party goin on over at
The Stamping Ground  where a whole lot of talented people share their work spaces so we can ooohhh and aaaahhhh.

This week I've been a tidy one.  However, I've also been shopping.

And what is on my work desk besides bags of goodies?  Molly - she thinks she owns the place.
And who is in the thinking chair?  Peanut who also thinks she owns the place.  And a cute bunny that I rescued from a trip to the Goodwill.  Long story short - my husband (who is still back in town) is on a clean it out kick.  He won this playing some game somewhere and he won it for me.  He was going to send it off to find a new home.  I am very sentimental and said no.  It was a fight, but I won.  Or should I say Peanut won - she now has a thinking chair buddy.
I am off to work, but when I get home - I will be surfing.  :-)

Have a great day and be inspired.

CAS - Splatter

I used Stampin Up Inks (Real Red, Concord Crush, Marina mist and Gumball Green) to ink up a Hero Arts splatter stamp for the background.  The set is called Art of the Card - Brush Strokes from the Hero Arts Stamp Your Story collection.  The sentiment is a stamp from an Inkadinkadoo set that has multiple quotes by children.  They are so cute and I thought this quote was appropriate for the paint splatters.  The sentiment is stamped in Concord Crush as well.

I will be sending this card to OWH so that our military serving away from home can stay in touched with loved ones while they are apart.  If you are interested in donating your cards to a worthy cause - check out the website.

Have a great day and be inspired.

My Favorite Blog - Every Friday

Although I enjoy scrapbooking and cardmaking, I also enjoy the hunt.  The hunt for new ideas for cards, scrapbook layouts, tools, organizational ideas and craftroom ideas just to name a few.  I can spend hours in my chair with my laptop on my lap and a cuppa on a coaster next to me hunting.

Since I enjoy that aspect of creating (or gathering because I do come from a long line of hunter gatherers) I thought I would share some of my finds.  I am going to start this Friday feature with a newly discovered blog.  I am sure it is not new, but it is new to me.  With any luck, I will share some blogs that one of you may not have found.

I just stumbled across this blog:  Did I say that out loud?

First of all - LOVE THAT NAME!  It cracks me up.

I skimmed through her posts and found that she and I have the same 'card style'.  Or should I say she has the style that I like to copy.  I don't honestly think I've ever come up with an original idea myself.  I am not going to post any of the pictures of her cards because I certainly don't want to step on any toes.  If you would like to see them - visit her blog.

I have many scrapbook pages and cards to share, but alas I have not taken any pictures of those said cards and scrapbook pages.  So until tomorrow - adu.

Have a great day and be inspired.

WOYWW 219 - The thinking chair

It is once again Wednesday and time to join Julia's Blog for WOYWW where crafters from around the world share their work areas.  So if you're interested in getting lots of great ideas and seeing some very crafty people go to Julia's Blog.

I have been rearranging my room to make space for my new 'thinking chair'.  My husband has been working out of town for a year and now that the job is complete (he is in construction - built a hydro dam on the Ohio River) - he ended up with all the furniture that was in the rental house his company rented.  So he is back home full time now.  (Do you see my deer in the headlight look?)  I did not realize that the chair I asked for was so big.  It is very comfortable.  I just need to keep moving things around until I get it to work.

Here is a picture of where it is now.

I like this location because if I decide I want to watch tv while I am contemplating my next big project - I can see the television.

A face only a mother could love.  LOL

This is actually my desk.  Again it is quite tidy.  Scary, huh?
This is where I do my scrapbooking.  I am almost done with Disney.  Yay.  I will be moving on to Washington D.C. next.

I think there is a little discussion going on about who gets to lie on my keyboard.

And Pumpkin wanted her face time.  Here she is gnawing on the Grinch.

Have a great day and be inspired.  I will be visiting blog land later.

Emily and Eeyore

My youngest daughter Emily loves Eeyore.  We just happened upon he and Pooh at a character spot in the Animal Kingdom.  I used some Disney paper with the different Pooh characters.  I also had some Eeyore stickers from Creative Memories.  I did some doodling around the stickers with a black pen.  It is a fairly simple layout - I jsut used solid color paper to mat the different pictures.  And I used stickers.  The Eeyore cut out was cut using the Cricut cartridge with the Disney Pooh Font.  I used a gel pen to add the stitching and did a little inking to make the cuts show up.

Have a great day and be inspired.

Ghoststamping

I've been stalking Darlene again.  Although, this time I didn't copy her exactly.  I chose a different silhouette stamp than Darlene used.  Her tutorial is located here - Ghoststamping with Secret Garden.  I started with my favorite stamp - Stampin Up Inspired by Nature.  I used a Versamark Ink pad that is white dye ink.  I think I should have used a pigment ink for this technique, but the dye ink is all I had on hand.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Picked Rasberry for one image and Ripe Persimmon for other image.  I used Tim Holtz Bundled Sage for the stems and the flowers.  Following Darlene's instructions I took coordinating colors of Derwent's Inktense Pencils to add shading to the flowers.  I also used a brown pencil to color the top of the coneflowers.

I inked the edges of the kraft cardstock with some more Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Walnut Stain and placed it on a cardbase of a coordinating color.  I used the stub side of a Corner Chomper on the corners of the kraft card stock.

These cards will be going to Operation Write Home.  This non-profit organization sends hand made cards to troops serving away from home.  Those troops in turn can send those cards home to their loved ones to stay in touch.

Are you a card maker?  Check out Operation Write Home and you too can help support our troops.  You can also support our troops by sending encouraging letters and cards letting them know we appreciate their service.

Have a great day and be inspired.

I told you The Tree of Life is my favorite

The family (minus Brittni because she had to work) in front of the Tree of Life in Disney's Animal Kingdom.

I started with a Scrapbook Generation 2 page sketch for this layout.  I used my animal print paper pack once again; as well as, some of the coordinating stickers that came with the set.  I cut out strips of the paper and then trimmed the ends to look like banners.  I used my Cricut Expression to cut out the letters for the Tree of Life title.  I placed it all on Kraft cardstock and there you have it.

Have a great day and be inspired.

I Miss You

I saw a tutorial by Jennifer McGuire on overlapping stamping.  So here is my attempt at overlapping stamping.  The chevron stamp I used is by Lawn Fawn.  The sentiment is by Avery Elle.  The ink I used is from Hero Arts.  I added the zig zag stitching in a thread color matching the ink.  Although I obviously need to work on my zig zags in the corners, but I do like the colors on this card.

Check out Jennifer mcGuire's blog - she has great tutorials.

Are you a cardmaker?  Do you want to help support our troops serving away from home by making cards? Then check out Operation Write Home.  You can send your cards to OWH and those cards will go to our troops so they can write home to their loved ones.

Have a great day and be inspired.

The Tree of Life

I think the tree of Life is one of my favorite attractions in the Animal Kingdom - that and the safari ride.  The talent of the concrete workers who created the different animals throughout the trunk and roots of the tree amazes me.

Thank goodness for the Disney Photo Pass.  If it hadn't been for Disney photographers - I wouldn't be in very many pictures.

Just different views of the Tree of Life and the Mount Everest ride in the background.  The tree on the right of the layout is from Paper Wizards.  Their cutting machine is awesome!

A close up of the tree.

I used a paper pack with multiple animal print inspired papers.  I will have to get the name the next time I am in the box.  I think animal print is so cool.

Have a great day and be inspired.

Another Title Page - what can I say - you've got to have them

Another simple, but necessary page.  We used maps for the different parks a lot.  I like including documentation from the different vacation spots - they are fun to look back at.  I used Cricut Cartridge Ashlyn's Alphabet to create the letters for the title.

Have a great day and be inspired.

WOYWW 218 - Finally!

I finally have some free time to participate in this awesome party.  If you haven't heard of it before - go check out Julia's Blog and you will see some amazing work areas and craft supplies.  I've been working and scrapbooking non stop over the past couple weeks.  But I am back now.  Yay.

Here is my desk and it is fairly clean.

I tidied up a bit - I was beginning to feel like I was drowning.  I've been focused on my scrapbooking for the past month as I have attended several crops including an all weekend get away this past weekend.

I plan on visiting lots of fellow WOYWW blogs this evening.

Have a great day and be inspired.

The Map Page - Simple but you got to have themj

Although these pages are rather simple, they are still pages.  I took a copy of the map of Epcot.  I used the Cricut to cut out the letters spelling Epcot.  Simple, but got to have those pages that show where you have been.

Have a great day and be inspired.

Lots of Scrapbooking - Kind Of

I spent 2 Saturday's ago scrapbooking all day.  I think I need a warm up period to get the creative juices flowing.  I have creativity blockage until I've been somehwere for working on scrapbooking for several hours.  I've decided to remedy that by doing a double page layout every day.  That way my creative juices never stop flowing.  I decided that today and yet this evening I have not removed myself from my chair and a half.

This page has some highlights from Hollywood Studios.  I need to do some journaling on it.  I will probably put some short descriptions or maybe a cool Disney quote.  And something about Castle being my favorite show.

I've been using a sketch book from Scrapbook Generation to help me get ideas.  I've tried to mix it up a little and not use my Kiwi Lane templates all of the time.

Have a great day and be inspired.
