Get Well Rainbow Style

A friend from work has requested some Get Well cards and so that was my theme this weekend.  Well you know except for Hugs.  Actually Hugs would work for Get Well, too.  I saw a card on a blog (MASKerade) that gave me the idea.  Here is my Get Well version.

Get Well Card Recipe

One of my latest themes has been the rainbow colors.  Who doesn't love a rainbow?  So, I took my Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks is Candied Apple, Spiced Marmalade, Fossilized Amber, Lucky Clover, Salty Ocean and Wilted Violet and made lines longways on the watercolor paper.  As is also my habit, I spritzed the cardstock lightly with water.  I had some negatives left over from cutting out some get well letters with my Cricut Explore Air 2 that I decided to place on top of this watercolor background using foam tape.  Then I had a revelation, Splatter.  I decided to splatter the white cardstock with some of the rainbow colors for some interest.  And there you have it.

Here is my inspiration.

Finish the Inside Creative Knockouts Challenge

It is Thursday and that means it is time for another Creative Knockouts Challenge.  This week's challenge is to finish the inside of a card.  Now you know I usually don't do that - unless it is a card for Veletta.  LOL  But here we go.

The sponsor for this week's challenge is Di's Digis and if you enter you have the chance to win a $12 voucher.
I saw a card on a blog that I follow (Just One More Card) that was a CAS card with a sentiment and some watercolor.  Here is my Get Well version.

Get Well CAS Card Recipe

I started with some watercolor cardstock and my Zig Clean Color Clear Brush Markers.  I stamped Hurry and Be Well in Versamark Ink and heat embossed with some Ranger Black embossing powder.  Now here is where it gets really complicated.  I took some water and put it generously over the sentiment.  Then I added color using my Zig Markers.  That's it.  I know!  I did put some color on my non stick mat, added water and created some splatter.  That is all.  I love the look and the simplicity.  Oh yeah - I matted it in lime green cardstock.

WOYWW 451 - Busy Week

It's Wednesday and that means it is time to take a picture of my desk and share it on Julia's Stamping Ground.  The best part is traveling around the world virtually to see other crafter's desk.

Here is my desk this week:

My desk is a disaster.  I work in a 3" x 3" space when I need to get something done.  I  am going to have to clean this up at some point.  This week is pretty busy, so it will probably be next weekend before it gets some TLC.

Tonight is dog grooming so I won't get to go desk hopping tonight, but will catch you all on the flip side.

Don't Make Me Crop You

Sherry and I worked a crop this weekend selling our t-shirts.  The crop was lots of fun and we sold a few shirts.  One of the shirts we made was like this one.  As is my habit, I asked Sherry to cut out 2 cause I had to have one.  ;-)

Hugs Are My Thing

Evidently Hugs is my sentiment right now because all the cards I've been making say Hugs.  I guess there isn't anything wrong with that.  I might actually have some get well cards this week so there will be some diversification.

Hugs Are My Thing Card Recipe

I've been playing with the text feature in the Cricut Design Space and Silhouette Studio softwares.  This card is a result of the negative cut I did on my machines.  I placed the red cardstock on a black mat and added some Doodlebug enamel dots in sparkly black.  Done.  You can't beat a simple card.

Hedgehog Hugs

I've been doing some tutorial videos on Cricut Design Space and Silhouette Studio, so I've been creating some cards using the designs I've created in the tutorials.  Here is a card I created using the HUGS I cut out on my Cricut Explore Air 2.

Hedgehog Hugs Card Recipe

A hedgehog from Penny Black adorns this alcohol ink laden card.  My tutorial videos on youtube.com for Cricut Design Space and Silhouette Studio are for those peeps who just recently got a new machine and are struggling with where to start.  HUGS was cut out using Cricut Explore Air 2.  I stacked multiple cuts on top of each other for dimension.  Using a sponge dauber - I inked up the hugs with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks in Peacock Feathers and Wilted Violet.  The background was created using Alcohol Ink and a silver mixative on Yupo Paper.  Purple card stock was used to mat the background of the card front.  The little Hedgehog colored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers.

Thanks 4 Kids Challenge

It is the second Saturday of the month and that means it is time for a new challenge at the Send a Smile 4 Kids Challenge blog.  The theme for this challenge is Anything Goes or Thanks 4 Kids.  This challenge no longer has sponsors so you will be participating for pride not prize.

Send a Smile 4 Kids charity is dedicated to collecting and distributing handmade cards to children who are inpatient at Children's Hospitals.  Please send us your handmade kids' cards for holidays, birthdays, and everyday cheer.  Help us put a smile on our kids' faces.

Here is the card I made for the Design Team for this challenge:

Thanks 4 Kids Card Recipe

If you follow my blog you know I have been stuck in a color rut as of late.  I have been using pink and purple for EVERYTHING.  I decided I needed to expand my color horizons.  I broke out the spray starch, some Metallic Color Burst and Yupo Paper.  I wasted a WHOLE lot of Metallic Color Burst in my quest to use new colors, but the sacrifice paid off with this lovely card.  THANKS is a die from My Favorite Things cut out in a coordinating color cardstock.  The decorated Yupo paper was cut out using a stitched die from My Favorite Things.  A mat was cut out in the same paper as the THANKS.  Coordinating sequins were also added.

Thanks for stopping by.  Consider entering the challenge at Send a Smile 4 Kids.  More importantly, consider sending some cards for our kids who are in the hospital.  Have a great day and enjoy the journey and some chocolate.

Prince - Happy Birthday

A friend at work had a birthday last Saturday and I was in charge of making her birthday card.  One of her favorite things is Prince.  Prince the singer.  I was struggling with how to incorporate Prince into her birthday card, but as I was looking through Etsy, I found this image.  And I had an idea.

Prince Birthday Card Recipe

I found this image on Etsy and I think the options are endless.  First I decided to bring it into the Silhouette Studio software, resize it and add registration marks.  I printed it on my laser printer so that I could add foil.  I couldn't find any purple foil in my stash so I used pink and sent it through my Anna Griffin version of the Minc.  I matted it in black and purple and I think it looks a little purple.  Added Happy Birthday to black cardstock in Versamark Ink and heat set it with white embossing powder.  My Favorite Things stitched banner die was used to cut out the sentiment.  I am pleased with the way it turned out.

Love You Raccoons

My Favorite Things came out with a new release last week and there are some adorable raccoons in this release.  It was just in time for the 30 Day Coloring Challenge at the Daily Marker.

Love You Card Recipe

I started by coloring that cute little raccoon with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers on water color cardstock.  The LOVE YOU is a die that came out with the release and I cut it out of purple cardstock and green fun foam.  The patterned cardstock if from My Favorite Things.  Cardstock used for the love you was also used to mat the card front.  Purple and white twin was used to add a little interest to the card and there you have it.

WOYWW 450 - Productive

It is Wednesday and that means it is time to take a picture of my desk and share it on Julia's Stamping Ground blog.  But the fun part is going desk hopping around the world.

My desk this week is pretty busy.  The cat makes sure that nothing stays where I left it.  I might actually have to start cleaning up my desk.  I've already had to remove the water for painting.  Oliver decided it didn't need to be on my desk;  I found it on the floor.  The cat is crazy.

ENC OUR AGE Kindness

Last week I exceeded by goal of 1 kindness shirt for the week.  This week I have met my goal, but I still have time to exceed those expectations again.  My business partner and I finished a whole lot of shirts today, but that cut into 'my shirt making' time.  :-)  And that reminds me - I have another shirt I need to press.  I need to do that tomorrow.

Here is this week's first kindness shirt.

ENCOURAGE Kindness T-shirt Recipe

I am still on a kindness kick and this shirt is using colors that I like together, but don't use very often.  I saw a similar design while surfing and decided to create my take on it.  I designed it in Silhouette Studio Version 4 and saved it as an svg.  I opened it in Cricut Design Space to cut it out on my Maker.  Brown and pink look so good together.

Hugs Hugs Hugs

First I want to say Happy Birthday to Martin Luther King Jr.  What a great man who brought about so much change.

Here is another share of some cards that were lying around my craft desk in pieces and parts.

Hugs Hugs Hugs Card Recipe

Same ole background you've seen for the past week.  I know boring, but hey - I made it so I need to use it.  :-)  Instead of stacking the hugs on top of each other, I stacked them on top of each other.  Separately.  The glittery enamel dots are from the Dollar Tree.  Yep - the Dollar Tree.  You have to love the Dollar Tree.  The same coral used to cut out the sentiment was used to mat the watercolor cardstock that was decorated using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink and spray starch.

Happy Birthday

The next few paper crafting related posts will be cards that I have created using the pieces and parts that I cut out and backgrounds that I made, but hadn't used to make cards.  These have been sitting on my desktop.....  Wait, that is a lie.  I left them on my desktop, but they have spent an inordinate amount of time on the floor of my craft room.  The culprit is pictured below.

Oliver

Last weekend I made some backgrounds and cut out some sentiments from some watercolor backgrounds of similar colors.  I made some cards, but still had some sentiments and backgrounds that I hadn't used.  So last night I made a stack and set about finishing up some cards.  On these cards I used enamel dots for interest.

Happy Birthday Card Recipe

Simple recipe today.  You can refer back to this post and this post to see the details.  I put together several cards with pieces and parts.  The birthday sentiment is from Concord and 9th.  I am hoping all the rest of the pieces and parts are still sitting on top of my craft desk and not on the floor tomorrow.  Oliver - that is directed towards you.  If you're reading this.

Hi in Distress Oxide Watercolor

Okay - I know that my cards are starting to look the same, but I can't help myself.  I love Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink and water.  But today I am using new colors - no pink and purple.  Woo hoo!

Let's just get right to it:

Hi Card Recipe

I have expanded my horizons!  I used Peacock Feathers and Abandoned Coral Distress Oxide Ink for this card.  And instead of spritzing water - I spritzed spray starch.  Is there a difference?  I have no idea.  I designed the 'hi' in Silhouette Studio V4 and then cut it out on my Cricut Explore Air 2.  I cut out multiples and glued the layers to make the sentiment more dimensional.  The snowflakes were cut using MFT dies.  The coral card stock was also used as a mat for the card.

Creative Knockouts Anything Goes Challenge

It is Thursday and that means it is time for another challenge at the Creative Knockouts Challenge Blog.  This week's challenge sponsor is Scrap N Dipity  and you can enter the challenge for a chance to win 3 images.  This week's challenge is a popular one - Anything Goes.  So put on your crafty hat and make something pretty.

Here is what I created for this week's challenge:

My New Glasses Card Recipe

I pulled the digital image - Fenna - My New Glasses into my Cricut Design Space software.  I tried something I have been thinking about trying for a while.  I printed the image on my laser printer.  The first one didn't turn out so well.  The second one was much better.  I then used my Anna Griffin Minc to adhere a pink foil to the image.  The sentiment is a die from Elizabeth Crafts and was cut out of Lawn Fawn Watercolor Cardstock.  The mat was also Lawn Fawn Watercolor Cardstock.  I kept the background simple so the image would have center stage.

WOYWW 449 - The To Do List

I am one of those that has a to do list so that I stay on track.  This week has been especially productive so far and I've checked off several tasks.  You will notice my tree is still up and I think it will be staying up.  My goal is to decorate it for each season.  We'll see how that goes.

This week is light on evening activities so I am hoping it will be a sushi and desk hoping night.  I do have a design team project due so I will have to finish that up, too.

In a World Where You Can Be Anything - Be Kind

So I have a goal to make at least one inspirational t-shirt a week for the month of January and this week I met my goal.  There has been an effort to make people more aware of bullying and choosing kindness over being mean.  I am a big proponent of the kind campaign.  I have never been bullied and cannot even imagine what it would be like.  I hope that promoting this awareness will bring an end to such a preventable issue.

Be Kind T-shirt Recipe

I was walking through Michaels trying to find something to use my 40% coupon on and I found this awesome looking heat transfer vinyl in my favorite color.  It looks a little like foil, but it's not foil.  I found the saying on Pinterest on a wood plank and brought it into Silhouette Studio and traced it.  I offset 'where' and 'anything' so that I could make the red vinyl stand out.  I actually cut this out using my Silhouette Cameo.  I seriously need to get a Silhouette Cameo 3.  :-)  Why?  I don't know.  It just seems like something I need.  LOL  Using my heat press, adhered the vinyl to a gray shirt.
