Nothing Better Than a True Friend

A few Saturdays ago I took a 6 x 6 paper pad from Paper House, some card sketches and some coordinating solid card stock and set about making some cards.  The beautiful paper pad from Paper House has some beautiful pages that I used to create some quick and easy cards.

Nothing Better Than a True Friend Card Recipe

Aren't those flowers beautiful?  I used some card stock with dots on one side and a watercolor look on the other side from BoBunny to mat the sentiment and the background.  And this is all this card needs.  The sentiment is so true - a 'true' friend is hard to find.  I have several true friends that I can give this card.  I am one lucky gal.

Good Friends Are Forever 2

On craft Saturday at church I worked on making lots of cards from a 6 x 6 paper pad from Paper House along with some card sketches and solid card stock.  I've already shared one card with the Good Friends are Forever sentiment.  I used the sentiment from the paper pad twice, but this card has a different paper.

Good Friends are Forever Card Recipe

This Paper House paper pad that my sweet friend Liz gave me has the most beautiful flower images.  I wanted to use them to create cards, but didn't want to lose their beauty.  I think matting them in a solid card stock and adding a small sentiment seemed to be the best way to go.  When you have lovely paper, there is nothing wrong with keeping it simple.  CAS.  :-)

Praying for You

I have recently needed several sympathy cards.  They say they come in 3's.  Sometimes that seems to be the case and sometimes not.

Praying for You Card Recipe

I started with some watercolor card stock and a Hero Arts background stamp.  Using my Tim Holtz stamping tool, I applied Versamark Ink to the stamp and pressed.  I heat embossed the background using gold embossing powder from Ranger.  I stamped it again and heat set it again.  I brushed water over the entire image and used the Hero Arts water colors and dropped color on the wet card stock.  I spritzed the card stock with water and then dabbed to lighten the background.  The die cut sentiment is from Stamploration.  It was cut in white cardstock and then versamark ink was applied.  I then heat set it with gold embossing powder.  I did that twice.  Nuvo glue was used to apply the sentiment.

I Was Born With Glitter in My Veins

I have a small obsession with t-shirts since Sherry and I started making them and selling them through our business Crafty AS Can Bee.  Making shirts for myself allows me to explore different color combinations and new designs.  I find a lot of designs in the Silhouette Design Store and I like to modify them by adding an offset and mixing up the colors.  Many of the designs in the Silhouette Design store have the option of buying a commercial license which is nice if the design is popular and people want to buy it.

This is one of the designs I found in the Silhouette Design Store and modified.

I Was Born With Glitter in My Veins T-shirt Recipe

Siser Mermaid glitter is one of my new go to glitter colors.  This glitter has a mixture of green and blue which makes it look like the Caribbean Ocean or a Mermaid's tail.  I think that is how it got its name.  I paired that with a turquoise shirt from Gildan (woman's cut), offset it with flat silver and flat turquoise vinyl on the flat silver.  The initial saying wasn't offset, so I added the offset when I pulled it into Silhouette Studio.

You Can't Be Sad When You Are Holding a Cupcake

This is one of the cards I made on the last Saturday of the month at Craft Saturday.  I used some paper from a 6 x 6 paper pad from Lawn Fawn and a sketch.  The sentiment is from a set that my BFF Diane had with her.

You Can't Be Sad Holding a Cupcake Card Recipe

This sketch is a pretty simple sketch, but with the right paper it looks good.  The paper is from Lawn Fawn and is matted in coordinating solid card stock.  I put the sentiment on a circle to add some interest.  Oliver decided to 'help' me photograph the card in the lightbox.

Oliver 'Helping'!

If you are familiar with my blog, you are familiar with Oliver.  Oliver is the cat that I adopted from my brother.  He moved out of his ex-fiancee's house and she was going to take his cat to the pound.  I didn't want that to happen so I offered to take him.  When telling me about Oliver, he insinuated he had been wrongly accused of doing 'things'.  I now know that Oliver was guilty of what ever his ex-fiancee had blamed him for.  He is always into mischievous.  But he is a sweet cat so I just whine about it and go one.

Here is how he helped me when I brought out the light box for photographing my cards.

This is how he 'helps' me cut out images with my Cameo.

Thanks for stopping by to visit me and Oliver.  Tune in next time for another paper crafting or t-shirt project.  Have a great day and enjoy the journey and some chocolate.

Good Friends are Forever

The last Saturday of the month is craft Saturday at church and it has come to be my mega card making day.  I take a 6 x 6 paper pad and some sketches with coordinating paper and get to work.  My friend Liz gave me a 6 x 6 paper pad from Paper House with the most beautiful flowers, nature scenes and patterns.  There were also pages that had sentiments that I used, too.

Good Friends are Forever Card Recipe

This beautiful pattern paper was one of the sheets in the pad.  The patter in the background is different than the pattern on the front of the card, but they coordinated beautifully.  I found a sketch that I liked and matted the pattern paper with the green solid card stock.  The sentiment (included on a sheet in the pad) is also matted in the green card stock.  I placed the card front on a white card base and it's ready for when I need it.

Craft Your Stress Away

This t-shirt was not meant to be.  This is the second iteration of this shirt and I messed this one up too.  Fortunately I did it on a less expensive shirt.  The mistake was made on a $3.88 shirt from Wal-mart.  That sounds cheap, but since I make so many shirts, messing up a $4 shirt hurts way more than messing up a $2 shirt from a Michaels sale.    And the shirt might be cheap, but vinyl is not.  Of course this is all relative when I take into consideration it can cost me as little as $10 to make a shirt.

Craft Your Stress Away T-shirt Recipe

My first attempt at this shirt used a darker pink vinyl for the background color.  The Siser Confetti Glitter vinyl is perfect with just about any t-shirt.  This vinyl has such beautiful color.  And YOUR STRESS was done in white.  I will post a picture of the boo boo at the end.  You will recognized my mess up right away because you have seen the good one.  But the good one has issues, too.  I decided to use a different shirt color for the redo.  You can't go wrong with hot pink.  I put the background vinyl down.  Then I decided to put the glitter and white vinyl all down at the same time.  I cut very close to the YOUR STRESS and made sure it wasn't overlapping any vinyl.  Everything looked perfect.  Then I go to peel up the vinyl.  UGH!  The masking tape for away was under the bottom of the f in craft.  Back to the Silhouette to cut out the bottom of the f.  Fortunately glitter vinyl is very forgiving.  I wouldn't have been able to recover as quickly with flat vinyl.

With Sympathy

These cards are my least favorite to make because it means that someone has lost a loved one or someone very special.  But I do want them to know that I am thinking about them and understand how they feel.  Until a few months ago I didn't really understand, but now I do.  I also struggle with what colors I should I use.  Today I chose blue and yellow.

With Sympathy Card Recipe

I started with watercolor card stock.  I remembered a butterfly stamp from Lawn Fawn that kind of reminds me of stained glass so I pulled it out.  I stamped it in Versamark Ink along with a sentiment from Avery Elle.  I heat embossed them in a gold from Ranger.  Using Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers - I put some color on the image.  I added water by spritzing.  That caused a little splatter, but I wanted more.  I put some color down on my craft mat and spritzed.  Using a brush I flicked more color on the card.  I matted it in yellow and put it on a card base.

Happy Birthday to You

Jennifer McGuire recently did a blog post and video showcasing lots of cards using the rainbow colors.  If you follow me you know I love rainbow colors.  The new Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow card stock was quite inspiring.  Now Jennifer McGuire has inspired me with her beautiful cards.

Happy Birthday to You

If you look at Jennifer's blog post (link in the first paragraph) and you should;  you will see that she painted a new Altenew Stamp called Mega Succulent using Zig Markers.  I recalled that I had a couple large flower stamps in my stash that I could use to CASE that technique.  Taylored Expressions came out with a large rose stamp a couple releases ago and I used that one first.  Using my MISTI, I stamped the rose using Versamark Ink and heat set with white embossing powder.  I did that twice to get a nice thick white line.  I used Zig Markers to color the rose in rainbow order.  Once I colored the image, I spritzed it with water until the colors blended.  After it dried, I stamped the leaves in the Versamark Ink and heat set in white embossing powder.  Zig markers in green were used to color the leaves.  I brushed the water on the leaves.  Once the leaves were dry, a yellow Zig Marker was used to color the border around the flower.  I added water using a brush.  The flower image was matted in pink and placed on a black card base.  A sentiment from My Favorite Things All About You was stamped in Versamark Ink and heat set in white embossing powder on black card stock.  The inside has the big YOU stamped in black ink.

Crafting Makes Everything Better

I was working on my week's t-shirts, but couldn't find the sayings that I was planning on cutting out.  I was being lazy;  what can I say?  I flipped through the images in my library and found this fun saying.

Crafting Makes Everything Better

I've been trying to be more versatile with my vinyl colors so today I am using variations of purple and silver glitter from Siser on a heather gray shirt.  The shirt is by Time and Tru which has become one of my favorites recently.  It is a relaxed woman's fit, extremely soft and you can find it al Wal-mart.  As is my normal procedure - I pulled the image to my mat.  I offset the image using the default offset.  I cut the offset out in a dark purple.  The 'makes everything' is in a light purple and crafting and better in silver glitter.  The image was pressed using my heat press.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today.  Tune in next time for another paper crafting or t-shirt project.  Have a great day and enjoy the journey and some chocolate.

Ruth 4:  4   I thought I should bring the matter to your attention and suggest that you buy it in the presence of these seated here and in the presence of the elders of my people. If you will redeem it, do so. But if you[b] will not, tell me, so I will know. For no one has the right to do it except you, and I am next in line.”   “I will redeem it,” he said.

Something to Make You Smile

So I have been on a rainbow kick.  How can you not like rainbows?  Bright colors just make me smile and evidently Jennifer McGuire agrees with me.  She published a blog post and video with cards made using rainbow colors.  That inspired me to do some more rainbow cards.

Something to Make You Smile

First, Jennifer McGuire inspired me and then I remembered the Penny Black Tulips Stamp and a light bulb went off in my head.  Rainbow, tulips, yay!  Diane actually stamped the tulips on watercolor card stock and heat embossed it in white - twice.   I colored the tulips with Zig markers in a rainbow of colors and added water.  The background is in my favorite Zig marker color which is cornflower blue.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things All Smiles Stamp Set.  I cut out the tulips using a My Favorite Things Blueprint scalloped stitched rectangle die.  The sentiment on the front of the card from the All Smiles set also was stamped on black and heat embossed with white.  I stamped the Smile sentiment also from the set on the inside of the card.  Veletta will be thrilled.  Everything was placed on a black card base.

Let Me Adjust My Crown T-shirt

I have been working on t-shirts with fun sayings and Silhouette Design Store has a multitude of fun sayings that I can use.

Let Me Adjust My Crown T-shirt Recipe

Unfortunately getting a good picture of this shirt was really hard.  The Siser electric vinyl kept blending in with the white vinyl behind it.  I pulled the design in from Silhouette Design Store and created an offset.  Cut it out with the Silhouette Cameo and pressed it on a Gildan Navy Blue shirt.
