I printed the otter image along with the cute saying from Word twice.  One of the images, I cut out with a scallop circle die and popped up on the first image.  The background was embossed with a polka dot embossing folder.  The card is topped off with sparkly enamel dots from Doodlebug.

Enter the challenge for the chance to win.

Get Well Flowers in Blue

I played around with heat embossing and water color to come up with some fun get well cards.  I also used the technique for some sympathy cards that I shared earlier.  I seem to be in need of sympathy cards on a regular basis.  :-( . Here is a simple card, but the pretty flowers keep it from being boring.

Get Well Card Recipe

I love using heat embossed images with water color markers.  It makes it so much easier to color because when you add the water there is a wall that will keep your color from going where you don't want it to go.  I used Tombow markers for this card along with water.  I added a sentiment from Paper Smooches.  The centers were created with Nuvo and I am terribly frustrated with them because mine always look like Hershey kisses.

Happy 5th Birthday to Crafting with Dragonflies Challenge Blog

I was invited to participate in the Crafting with Dragonflies 5th Birthday Challenge Blog Celebration.  Check out this wonderful card challenge and get in on the birthday fun.

I was given these beautiful flowers and adorable yorkie image to work with.  Two of my favorite things.

This image is from Digistamps 4 Joy.  I printed it in gray (not on purpose) on watercolor card stock.  I decided to just go with it.  I added color to the center of the flowers using my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers.  Instead of using water, I used my clear glitter pen from Nuvo to pull the color the out.  The edges of the flowers got a little blurred in the process, but I think with watercolor that is okay.  I put down some of the zig color on my glass mat and added water so that I could create some splatter.  I used Nuvo drops for the center of the flowers.  Sentiment was stamped with Lawn Fawn ink.  Everything was outlined in the light gray Zig marker.  Card front was matted in purple.

Now this adorable image was a joy to play with.  It comes from The Paper Shelter and is already colored and ready to go.  I brought the image into my Silhouette Studio software and printed it on my Anna Griffin Kodak printer.  I was getting a little frustrated with the printer because everything was printed like it was in a fog.  Turns out I wasn't using the right setting when I was sending the images to the printer.  It's amazing how nicely it prints when you do it right.  LOL . So I traced this little cutie and printed it.  Then I cut it out with my Silhouette Cameo 3 (love it!).  I actually printed it twice.  I fussy cut the butterfly, the paws and the tongue to add some dimension.  The pattern paper is from Bo Bunny and I used both sides.  I cut out the heart so the solid color would show through.  Card front was matted in coordinating solid card stock.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today.  I hope you visit the Crafting with Dragonflies blog and celebrate 5 years of card challenges with them.  And you could win some fun prizes, too.  Have a great day and enjoy the journey and some chocolate.

With Sympathy Rose

I have been playing with my Tombow markers and water using several flower stamps that I hadn't used in a while or ever.  As I have been in need of sympathy cards lately, I thought this rose would make a lovely sympathy card.

With Sympathy Rose Card Recipe

The Penny Black rose was stamped in Versamark Ink and heat embossed with Nuvo Black Embossing powder.  I used a beautiful red marker from Tombow to color in the areas of the flower where there would be shadows.  I added water to the part of the rose that had no color.  The water bled into the color and pulled the color out giving the effect of shadowing on the rose petals.  The same technique was used on the leaves.  I outlined the flower in a dark gray and used a brush with water to pull the color away from the flower, but leave a darker line around the flower.  This makes the flower pop.  Lucy's Cards jewels were added along with a sentiment from Paper Smooches.  A black mat finished up the card front.  Now Veletta would be proud because I stamped on the inside of the card too.  :-)

They Don't Know That We Know They Know We Know

Now if you are a Friends fan you know exactly what that quote refers to.  If you aren't a Friends fan (shame on you) then you need to watch the Friends episode, the one where everybody finds out.  Every situation in life can be related back to a Friends episode.  I think you can find it on Netflix and if you haven't watched - you just don't know what you're missing.

A friend of mine texted me a shirt that she wants and this was saying.  I knew I too must have a shirt with this quote so I got to designing.  Or copying one I saw - however you want to say it.  This is my version.

They Don't Know That We Know They Know We Know T-shirt Recipe

Now originally I pictured this on a gray shirt.

That is my mock up of the shirt.  It looks real - doesn't it?!!!  But when I went to make the shirt, I didn't have a gray shirt in my size.  So I put it on the turquoise heather.  I also copied the logo from the internet and traced it in Silhouette Studio.  I made it small enough to fit on the sleeve.  I thought about putting it after the quote, but the quote is pretty 'tall' so I opted for the sleeve.  I've been wanting to put something on a sleeve anyway.

Favorite Embellishment Challenge at Creative Knockouts

It is Thursday and that means it is time for a new challenge on the Creative Knockouts Challenge Blog.  This week's challenge is to use your favorite embellishment.

I used a digital image from Sweet and Sassy stamps called Forget Me NotSweet and Sassy stamps is this week's sponsor.  Enter our challenge for a chance to win $10 to purchase digital images at Sweet and Sassy stamps.

Favorite Embellishment Card Recipe

I used a spotlight stamping technique to make this card.  Since it's a digital image, I printed the image twice.  I colored the image with Zig markers and used Nuvo Clear Glitter to fill in.  I cut out the flower to use on the black and white image.  I cut the other print down to 4 x 5.25.  Using foam tape I popped up the flower on the black and white image.  I used my MISTI to stamp Happy Birthday.  I added jewels from Lucy's Card Shop which is one of my favorite embellishments.  I used Bazzil Bling card stock to mat the card front.

Hurry and Be Well Tulips

Here is another card that I heat embossed with Nuvo Black Embossing powder and colored with Tombow markers.  This is a great technique when you want beautiful cards, but some extra time left in your day when you're done.

Hurry and be well Card Recipe

These are currently my favorite tulips and they are from Penny Black.  I stamped them in Versamark Ink and heat set them with Nuvo Embossing Powder.  Tombow Markers were used to color the flowers where there would be shadows and then I added water where there was no color.  This allowed the color to bleed into the rest of the flower.  I did the same with the leaves.  I outlined the flowers in a purple Tombow marker and then used a brush to pull the color away from the edge of the flowers.  The sentiment if from MSE and I stamped it in Versamark Ink and heat set with Nuvo White Embossing powder.  Lucy's Cards jewels finished off the card along with a black mat.

My Brain Has Too Many Tabs Open

I often times tease that I've run out of hard drive space in my brain and that I need an upgrade.  Or when I have trouble remembering, I say that those memories are on a tape drive and have to be accessed remotely.  So when I found this in the Silhouette Design Store I knew I wanted it on a shirt.

Too Many Tabs T-shirt Recipe

For me the hardest part of making a shirt can be figuring out what colors to use.  I have a stash of t-shirts and HTV vinyl, so I went digging for some fun colors.  The offset is a light pink.  The flat vinyl is Siser Electric in Cherry.  And the Siser glitter is confetti which has a pink in it along with silver.  I also put together a video on how I used the Silhouette Design and added the offset along with using the colors to make it easier to cut out.

Happy Mother's Day

It is Mother's Day in the U.S. and that means today's post will be a Mother's Day Card.  My Mom is the best Mom ever to me.  I don't want to start an argument with anyone about how their Mother is better.  This isn't actually the card she is getting - I've already posted that one.  (blush).  But I would gladly give her this card.

Mom You Are the Best Card Recipe

This card started with a background technique.  I used a Taylored Expressions stencil to create this background and you will see that pattern in the future, too.  Using painter's tape, I taped the stencil over a piece of watercolor card stock.  I colored with a hot pink Zig Clean Color Clear Brush marker.  I left the stencil in place and spritzed with water.  Then I just left it to dry.  I trimmed it down to 5.25 x 4 inches and matted it in a coordinating hot pink solid card stock.  MOM is a die from Taylored Expressions which was cut out in the same hot pink solid card stock and some fun foam.  Card stock was glued on the fun foam to give Mom dimension.  You are the best is from another Taylored Expressions stamp set and it was stamped in Versamark on pink solid card stock.  A tag die from My Favorite Things was used to cut out the white embossed sentiment.  Enamel hearts from TE topped off the card.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today.  Give your Mom a hug if she is still here on this Earth with us.  And give yourself a hug if you are a Mom - you deserve it.  Have a great day and enjoy the journey and some chocolate.

March Mystery Block of the Month Quilt Square

So I have been 'quilting' for about 2 years now.  I am working on year number 3.  The first 2 years were not stellar.  I learned a lot, but I was not very motivated to improve.  Fast forward to this year.  The sneak peaks at the material that would be used for this years mystery block of the month was promising.  And then we got our first square.  I am in love.  I discovered that my lack of motivation prior to this year was due to the fact that I wasn't inspired by the material.  I am now excited about making these squares.

Here is the square for March:

March Quilt Square Recipe

Now if you are a quilter you will probably notice something that doesn't look quite right.  And you are correct.  The 3 inch square on the bottom right hand corner and the 3 inch square in the upper left don't match.  And that was because I made a boo boo.  I trimmed one of my squares with the white and the print too small.  I had no additional flower print material so I had to improvise.  I had yellow and white and that's what I used.  I also didn't get it placed exactly right as my seam isn't where it should be.  But you know what - I love it anyway.  ;-)

With Sympathy Watercolor

I wanted to stock up on some cards and unfortunately sympathy cards are part of what I need to keep on hand.  Watercolor is one of my favorite techniques right now so I decided to use it on this card.

With Sympathy Watercolor Card Recipe

Using my paint brush, I painted water on the watercolor cardstock and then I added Hero Arts Watercolor.  The sentiment is from Stamplorations and I die cut it in navy blue card stock and light blue card stock.  The adhered sentiment pieces were offset slightly so the light blue was visible.  The sentiment inside is from Dare 2B Artzy.

Peace Love and Flip Flops

Yep - another t-shirt.  This time I actually have 2 shirts to share.  One my size and one my granddaughter's size.

Peace Love and Flip Flops T-shirt Recipe

Flip flops are one of my faves.  I found this image in the Silhouette Design Store and did a few modifications.  The colors were perfect for a pink shirt that I had for my granddaughter so I cut it out in miniature.  I tried to balance the glitter so I only used glitter on the peace sign and the flip flops.  I used a Gildan shirt for mine and a Hanes t-shirt for my granddaughter.  Can't wait for summer!

With Sympathy Cala Lillies

I was recently in need of a sympathy card and decided I would make a couple using Tombow watercolor markers.  I am a big fan of flowers and I think flowers are always a good idea for a sympathy card.

With Deepest Sympathy Cala Lilly Card Recipe

The flowers are from Penny Black.  I stamped them in Versamark Ink and heat set with Nuvo Black Embossing Powder.  Tombow markers were the medium I used to color the flowers and then I added water.  The sentiment is from Avery Elle and was stamped in Versamark Ink and heat embossed with white Nuvo Embossing Powder on black card stock.  The inside sentiment is from Dare 2B Artzy.

Peony from Paper House

It's been a few weeks ago that I packed up a 6 x 6 paper pad from Paper House, some coordinating card stock and card sketches to make some cards at Craft Saturday.  This is another one of those papers that just needed a sentiment as the flowers are beautiful all by themselves.

I've already shared how I created these cards in past posts so I will share you are repeat.

Louisville Fleur De Lis T-Shirt

The symbol for the city of Louisville Kentucky is the Fleur De Lis.  I found a Fleur De Lis on the internet that had a city line of Louisville.  I brought it into my Silhouette Software, traced it and saved it.  I opened it in Cricut Design Space and used the Text feature along with the new curve feature for text to put Louisville along with the image.

I cut out the black using Siser Black Stretch vinyl.  The glitter is Siser Black Silver glitter.  My Cricut Maker was used to cut out the design and I used my Cricut Easy Press to press the shirt.
